Hi Sir,

I am fresher in SAP ABAP (learned ABAP and gone through some basics of BI) . Now BO project is going to be implemented in our company and I want to apply my best efforts in that.
Therefore I would like to know that what are the basic things which I need to learn before that?
Is it necessary to be good in BI to get involved in BO project?

Hi Irish,

I would recommend for you to get familiar with basic concepts and object in BI. As far as data modeling itself and its processes, that would be less interesting for you if you are going to work on BO projects only. But, it is imperative to know what is InfoCube, DSO, Bex suite and Queries since they would be basis for your BO reports.

Practical example would be, you will load data from source system (SAP ERP) into DSO and then InfoCube via datasource/PSA/Transformation/DTP - and then you will create query via BEx Query Designer over that InfoCube which will give you the form of report that you want - this happens on BI side.

Later on BO, you will use query you just created on BI as basis for Dashboard creation in Dashboard designer.

Hi ,

BO Projects Depends On  Data base.

SAP (ECC) --> BO

SAP (ECC ) --->  SAP (BI ) ---> BO

any Non SAP D.B (SQL/ORACLE)   ---> BO

For BO : Database Knowledge is mandatory like  how to write simple select statements in sql,joins etc .

Here in BO Universe Plays Key Role  , if client uses Non SAP  / SAP D.B. need to learn basics concepts of universe search in SCN you will get lots of Documents related to universe.

For BI to BO reporting: need to have ABAP Knowledge.

Yes, Basic level abap needed.

we will use ABAP in  all 3 stages of BI  :MODELLING,EXTRACTION ,REPORTING .

If you want more information ABAP related to BI with scenarios where ABAP is used in BI.

Just Search in Google with Key words :
