Hi All,
I am very new to SAP and with no IT background. I am thinking of doing a foundation course TERP10- Integration of business processes to become a SAP certified business associate.Could you please advise me, is this certification is enough to look for jobs in SAP industry? Which types of jobs can I apply?
And should I go for online course or classroom course? Class room courses are three times expansive than online courses, but are they good value for money?
Will look forward to any response.
Kind Regards
Anju

Hi Anju,
May be the classroom course are expensive, but as a fresher, you need a mentor to understand the terms and processes in SAP. If you are ready to join SAP club, then you need to attend classroom training. (My personal opinion)
With the certification you have chosen, i haven't seen people around doing it. This looks like an overview of all process. May be other consultants can advice / comment on this.
First of all you need to understand the Technical and Functional Modules available for a SAP consultant.
As far as my experience, Technical work is comparatively easy for Freshers since Functional experience require some basic domain knowledge. There is no restriction for you to attend the Functional Module certification / course but it will be more challenging.
I suggest you to discuss with your close friends / relatives to get deeper about SAP streams and also visit SAP Learning / Training center for career discussion.
After all this... there are many experienced certified consultants are looking for jobs, so it will be a stuff market as of now.
All the best.

Dear Terence, thanks for the advise. I have been talking to few people around and also reading on SAP career discussions but I have not found any discussion pointing to freshers like me, what should be the first step? Which type of courses are more appropriate for beginners?
This course was advised by A SAP course consultant.

Hi Anju,
I feel this is the very difficult part to answer.
In my previous experience, i have seen Freshers who are recruited from campus will be placed for training in Technical streams like ABAP or BASIS and Functional streams FI / MM / SD / PP / PM etc.
After their training, based on the project availability they have been placed in respective projects. They will get hands on experience in any module and move on with the phase.
On googling about certification for fresher, some prefer SAP01 or TERP01 but either the i can see these are basis fundamentals to understand SAP, but hunting for jobs i am not sure whether this is sufficient.
TERP01 deals with all modules but not in depth. Other functional modules will give full details and stuff.
First of all, what is your education background, with SAP are you able to link your education ? since you are Fresher, i am trying to understand, which can be best for you.
If you are ready to attend TERP01 and in future if you want to specialize yourself to take part for another certification, then you can continue.

Thanks again for taking the time out and replying to my queries. I will have a look at the courses you suggested and will compare with TERP10 also. I have many years of industrial chemistry background and hoping if I can combine both together.
I know it is going to be very chellenging to start with but hopefully will find a way to progress slowly.
Thanks & Regards

Hi Terence, I have >15 years of industrial chemistry experience and have worked with various manufacturing industries.Unfortunately lost my job last year and for the moment, there are not many jobs in industrial chemistry field in Australia. So looking to change the profession.
I am sure you can pick up, I am so confused about SAP world....

Hi Anju,
after reading this thread i will suggest you to take a better step towards any authorised SAP training Center near you. Tell them about your prior work experience and ask him about any suitable module which relates to your previous work experiences.
Because simply taking a Certification will never gurantees a job for you, and you may get frustrated with new technology. So it would be more beneficial if you will do some research work before taking any step. Then it will be more fruitful to your career.
Best of Luck.

Hi Anju,
This looks better, when you have domain experience. You can contact SAP Australia, so they can suggest you the best way.
You have options like Production Planning / Material Management / Plant Maintenance and SCM. These all are related Manufacturing.
I have heard Australian market is not so good in SAP now, better do market analysis, before jumping into conclusion.
