Hi Folks,
Hope you people are doing real good.
I got a quick question for you , please guide me on this.
Very recently i got into Genpact as a Business Analyst Role, which is very interesting. I was previously trained on SAP-ABAP in local institute, i would like to get myself updated in SAP. Could you please, suggest me is there any course that i could take to upgrade myself in SAP apart from ABAP.
I would be expecting a better response from you. Hope, you got my point.
To keep you posted, my work as of now is nothing but i would be working on more on MS EXCEL,MS PPT, Sending reports and so on.....!
Thank you,
Ramesh Jeevanand.

Hi Ramesh
You will get a better assistance if you explain what sort of Business Analyst work you are doing? Are you in a specific business area/process area? Finally, more information on how long you have been in this area and what other interest do you have in SAP?
In relation to spending more time in the MS products for your job welcome to my world! I do security work and I can find myself out of SAP and using other products to help me. Don't discount mastering those products as you would be surprised how many consultants and SAP "experts" don't know how to effectively use support tools to do their job!

Colleen

Hi Lee,
Firstly, i woluld like to thank you for your response....!
The kind of work i do is project based, it is completed based on MS excel, ppt, word... I am an admin for the VBA tool where we work with master data quite related to SQL either.
I would to know, more about security work on which you are currently working towards. I to know information, if it something confidential related no problem. Just to know a jist of the kind of role you are into.
The reason, why i am looking for SAP related is : As, my current role is Business Analyst - Where i am handling one project as of now. I taught would any modules from SAP helps to build my career like HANA\BOBJ or any other module would help me to upgrade my knowledge.
Kindly, help me out in suggesting the modules which you know.
Warm regards,
Ramesh J.V

Hi Ramesh
There are is breakage in confidentiality. I use MS Excel and Access quite a bit to analyse my security and grc builds. This can include extracting a few tables from SAP and then importing them and doing pivots, formula, filtering, etc to help me identify issues in the system and fix.
SAP Security covers the identify management of the user (user master, naming conventions, classifications, license management, role assignment, etc) as well as the security role build (what to grant in a role) and then the general system security of the system. It can be a challenging area as security goes across all SAP components and modules.
You need to be clear on what you want your career to be. None of us can suggest what you should or should not do for your career. What are you goals and professional ambition beyond money and reputation? What skills do you think you have (i.e. are you a good problem solver? Are you a good planner? Are you great at teaching others?
Finally, what do you know about SAP? Business Analyst is a good skill set to have and where to take that to in SAP "world" really comes back to some of the other questions I have asked you.
Regards
Colleen
Ps - no need to reply write same words to each person as we can all see what you write

Hello Ramesh,
The most important thing is "Interest".& "Knowledge".If you have interest functional Module like Material Management ,Production,Sales Distribution etc then SAP Provides Different modules for all these. you can get knowledge of these modules by local institutes.
If you like development as you know ABAP, then apart from abap you can go for webdynpro,Workflow and OO-ABAP.
Even you can search Different SAP modules which will idea that which model is suitable for me to grow in career. and also which modules is more demanded in your current company. so that you will get correct idea.
I hope this is useful information for you.

Hi Ameya,
Firstly i would like to thank you, for reply....! Hope you had a great weekend ..!
I agree for what you had mentioned. I am really interested to learn SAP, basically i was trained for SAP ABAP in local institute in a functionality module which helped me a lot in understanding things, as you know without any relevant work experience i wasn't get placed in a right direction. But, i don't want to lose my interest on it. I still wanted to be in a SAP domain i would like to process my carrier in this stream.
Since, a quarter back i got through in Ge as a business Analyst - my current role in this organisation, is i am handling a project as of now. Wherin, i will be woking most of time in excel related maintaining a Master data for Health care systems, prod Id's, which is almost similar to SQL database.
Is there any particular domain, where i could process my carrier are there any domains in SAP like HANA or BO anything as such.
I would like to get some help from you folks, on this.
Warm regards,
Ramesh J.V
