To be honest, there is very very limited Freelancing market in India. I would rather say it is a nil.

Unless you have very expertized knowledge, which is not available in the market, then they may take you as a freelancer. Otherwise, going to become a freelancer in India is distant dream.

In India supply is many time higher then the demand. Therefore, unless if it is cost effective, the companies would not go for a freelancer / contractor.

There are more skillful and knowledgeable people in India needs to be settled as permanent employees because of the market dynamics.

Employers from other countries would not be interested to sponsor the work permit. They may think to offer in case if the candidate is having work permit / visa. Having said that, they would mostly try to pick a person within the local market, rather that going to get a person with work visa, unless it is very cost effective.

Moved to career centre as not an ABAP technical question.

Hi Gaurav

In this situation it may help to know which country you are located in as I suspect the advise will depend on location.

For me, I am an Independent Consultant (i.e. Contractor who seeks/is sought out for work). I am approached by Agents/Recruiters who have been requested by Clients/Customers to obtain specific skill set. This came about for me as a natural career progression but I have also switched back to being an Employee as well (I am always interested in skills).

The other bit of information you need to provide is more on your experience. How many years experience do you have. Based on you question being moved from ABAP space I assume you are a developer.

In short, provide some more background and the community might be in a better position to assist you.

Hi,

If you are an Expert in ABAP with every technicality, I would suggest like

1) Start your own classroom Session for ABAP aspirants.

2) Getting in touch with Project Managers where they might need help on any aspects.

3) Make yourself popular with good working on ABAP.

Feel it, Believe it and Achieve it.

Hi Gaurav

I don't know India recruitment market so others might be able to jump in. I'm just not sure if I've heard of

Independent Contractors in India (again doesn't mean they don't exist)

Good luck with your intentions and hope you succeed.
