After huge success of UX Focus week (30th May-3rd June’16), UX Hub, Custom Development, Gurgaon organized a technical training for Shanghai colleagues on ODATA. This training is part of the series of trainings being conducted across various locations (Bangalore, Gurgaon, and Shanghai) on empowering colleagues with the concepts of UI5 and ODATA.

I, Garima Sardana along with Ashwani Goyal, from SAP CD UX APJ, Gurgaon, conducted ODATA Developer Training in Shanghai. This was planned for half day daily and spanned for 5 days from 20th-24th June’16.

The participation from Shanghai colleagues was in good numbers. Around 10 colleagues participated and their enthusiasm to learn was spot on!

The training was a blend of lecture sessions and demonstrations. The participants performed hands-on after each of the demonstrations. The interaction and inquisitiveness made this session a great learning experience for both the trainers and the participants.

Topics covered:

  1. Background and Motivation
  2. REST based services and six constraints
  3. Introduction to ODATA protocol and architecture
  4. Entity Data Model
  5. ODATA Query Options
  6. ODATA Service Deployment
  7. Deployment Options
  8. Function Imports
  9. $Batch Processing/Deep Insert
  10. Attachment Handling and Media Links
  11. Exception handling
  12. ODATA extensions and Annotations
  13. Multiple Backend Support
  14. ODATA Services with HANA XS Engine
  15. ETags
  16. Security and Performance Considerations
  17. Soft state
  18. Draft

This training in Shanghai is the inception of ODATA Training Series planned across various locations during the rest of the year. While writing this blog, training in Bangalore is already underway (27th June-1st July’16) which is conducted by Anubhav Pandey and Uday Vir Singh, UX Hub, Gurgaon.

We look forward to similar great enriching and sharing experience in coming sessions as well.
