August 1-4, SAP Hybris Cloud Services & Support leaders from around the world will gather just an hour outside of Montreal to hold their yearly team summer summit. This will be the first time that Canada is host to the summit, and this time, the agenda is out of the ordinary.
Who is Cloud Services & Support?
The team defines itself as an experiment in cloud transformation. One year ago, the team was given the merged two functions: Hybris Cloud Delivery and on-premise Product Support and Hybris customer care and tech support.
Why Montreal?
The SAP Hybris Montreal office houses several Cloud Services and Support leaders and is also a central piece of the global team. Every year, the summer summit is held in a different location to bring exposure to the various offices around the world. Montreal holds all functions of business for SAP Hybris, cloud, delivery, marketing, sales, and the overall end-to-end portfolio.
For this leadership summit, Heiko Stoermer, Vice President of Cloud Services & Support at SAP Hybris invites not only line managers, but strongly relies on experts who make significant contributions to their line of business, independent of rank or title. Though SAP Hybris headquarters are in Munich, Montreal is a flagship location, home to vital piece of the SAP Hybris portfolio.
Why Nature?
Although the summit will be held nearby Montreal, it will be far from city vibes. The summit will take place one hour outside of downtown Montreal, in Montebello, Quebec at Le Chateau Fairmont Montebello. The leadership team has chosen to hold a summit in the middle of the beautiful Quebec wilderness to bring employees out of their comfort zones and ensure few distractions. As the Cloud Services & Support team works in a high stress business, the team wants to refocus its priority on connections that are built between employees and cultivate them in the peaceful environment of Montebello. After all, life begins outside of your comfort zone. On the agenda: canoeing, kayaking, leadership and team-building activities, and an out-of-the-ordinary workshop for a good cause: a scavenger hunt meets bicycle bricolage.
The Opening Workshop
The summit will open with an original and exciting team building activity. A scavenger hunt will be organized for small groups to find parts and tools they need to assemble bicycles – but there is a catch: Each team will be given extra parts, parts that other teams will need. The teams will be forced to negotiate with other groups to obtain the parts they are missing to fully assemble their bicycles. The first team to assemble their bike will be crowned winners. The bikes will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, a foundation for underprivileged children, thanks to the Cloud Services & Support team.
