On December 8, SAP was selected as one of CareerBliss’s 50 Happiest Companies in America for 2015. Recognized for their dedication to creating happier work environments, companies that make this list are voted up by their own employees. SAP ranks at the very top of the list, rounding out the top 10. This is the first time SAP has appeared on this list.
Over the past two years, CareerBliss analyzed thousands of employee submitted reviews to gain an overview of what folks thought of some key happiness factors at work. Key metrics included work-life balance, relationship with boss and co-workers, work environment, job resources, compensation and job control over daily work. On a five point scale, SAP got a Bliss Score of 3.444.
CareerBliss noted there was a huge uptick in the number of STEM-related (Science,Technology, Engineering and Math) companies ranking in the top 10 this year. While these industries pay well, a hefty salary doesn’t always equal career bliss. “This may reflect the positive features in the type of jobs these companies offer, but it also might reflect the fact that employees with these skills have lots of choices of whom to work for. This means the companies have to keep them happy to keep them at the company,” said CareerBliss Adviser Bradley Brummel, who has a Ph.D. in workplace psychology.
“At SAP, we care about our employees and we have put a number of programs in place to ensure they are engaged and thriving at work,” said Jewell Parkinson, Lead Human Resources Business Partner for North America. “In addition to offering career development options, flexible work arrangements, fellowship opportunities and a cool and inclusive workplace culture, we are always listening to what our people need and developing new programming to grow, reward and retain them. For employees to say their work rewarding is incredibly fulfilling. Reporting that they have career bliss? That’s what we strive for every day at SAP.”
