One of the best ways to show what Life is like at SAP is to share our employee stories to provide insight into their experiences and what being successful means to us at the company. I am Heather Walker, and I work on the Global Employer Branding team. Over the last few months I have had the opportunity to speak with 50 colleagues across our Europe, Middle East and Africa region to help share their stories. Here is an interview I did with Lukasz Smiech.

Lukasz, from Poland, started working for SAP in May 2017 is focused on IoT (Internet of Things).

What qualifications did you need to work on IoT in SAP?

A key requirement for my role was classroom training on the most important solution in the portfolio. In my case this was Integrated Business Planning.

What do you think the key skills people need to work in this area?

You need to have technical knowledge about the products as well as strong communication skills and curiosity. You must love challenges and being resistant to stress also helps.

What does your career at SAP mean to you?

My career so far as meant prestige, gaining deeper IT knowledge, meeting new people, having new experiences and gaining a wider view on businesses, processes and solutions.

What does success look like to you?

To me it means closing deals, building strong relations with customers, helping to find solutions to customer problems and improving processes.

If you could go back in time and give your 18-year-old-self one piece of career advice what would it be?

“there is no problem, only solution”
