Perhaps you've heard of Humans of New York (HONY), the five-year-old vibrant photograph-blog-turned-#1-New-York-Times-best-selling-book run by a man named Brandon that provides a worldwide audience with daily glimpses into the lives of the people in New York City. Inspired by HONY, we decided to do our own spinoff and call it Humans of SAPsv. Each week, through the end of December, we'll feature three employees complete with their picture, name, title, Twitter handle, and snippets of their passion for SAP, their commitment to their colleagues and community, and what inspires them both inside and outside of SAP.

If you're interested in the chance to be featured in Humans of SAPsv, please email Magen Petit. Enjoy learning more about your colleagues and share your comments below!

What are you passionate about at SAP?
How SAP technology and innovations is helping people change the world. I’m proud SAP is part of projects like personalized medicine, humanitarian projects, and the more sustainable and responsible management of resources.

What’s your favorite thing about working at SAP?
I’m grateful to work for a company that exhibits a high level of integrity and a sincere respect for customers, employees, and partners. That integrity starts from the top and is role-modeled, which is a big change from another large Silicon Valley company where I’ve worked! The SAP attitude is immediately felt when you walk onto a campus. People smile at each other. Everyone you meet is very interesting and genuinely kind.

What’s one bucket list item?
Snow kiting in Alaska. I tend to gravitate toward sports with a high adrenaline factor and involve strapping a board to my feet. Alaska is on my skiing bucket list, and the scale of snow and mountains are order of magnitude bigger than other geographies.

What’s one of your favorite memories or experiences?
The days my sons came into my life. My oldest, Enzo, is almost 22, and he lives in L.A. He’s a writer, producer, and actor. Every film is like a start up. My youngest son Julian is going to college here in Silicon Valley, and he loves school and learning. He is designing a smartphone accessory that will be going into prototyping phase in about a month. My stepson, Chris, is 21, and he’s studying computer science. He’s had his own business selling high-end graphics cards for Macintosh since he was 15.

What are you passionate about at SAP?
Only at SAP do you get the environment where you can actually work on solving real-life problems that makes this world a better place to live.

What’s your favorite thing about working at SAP?
Privilege to work with exceptional talent and leaders (who care not only about business, but also about YOU) and plethora of opportunities to actually define your career.

If you could have one super power, what would it be?
I wish I had the super power to protect the environment and our earth so that our future generations can also enjoy the world in the same way we do.

What is your favorite book and why?
“The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari”–I love this book as this is one of the finest books I have ever read that actually guides you how YOU can define your dreams and destiny.

What are you passionate about at SAP?
Perhaps, I am a bit biased, but right now SAP HANA Cloud Platform makes me excited. I am heading up Product Management for SAP HANA Cloud Platform in the Americas and the momentum we have now is just amazing. What I love about my product is that is really brings it all together and it gives great opportunities for cross-team collaboration–HANA Cloud Portal, HANA Cloud Integration, and IoT to just mention a few. What I also love about HCP is how it helps our customers simplify their lives as they can integrate all their systems both SAP and non-SAP into one purposeful user interface.

What’s your favorite thing about working at SAP?

I have been with SAP for 20 years now and the reason why I have stayed this long is SAP is always pushing the envelope when it comes to innovation and renewing itself. I have seen this company through the intro of R/3 to our new in-memory database and Cloud story and have had a chance to work with our latest technologies throughout my career at SAP. To me, it has always felt like being part of a startup with the resources of large enterprise. SAP is always open-minded when it comes to people with new product ideas and there is a lot of room for entrepreneurship.

What’s something not many people would know about you?

People who know me well know I love the outdoors and camping. Might not be obvious seeing me around the office, but I love to spend days hiking, climbing, and walking with my backpack in the mountains without showers and other facilities for days. I was also one of the first women mixed ice climbers in Sweden (you climb both ice and rock with your ice axes) and I had a one-time opportunity to be on Swedish TV talking about it and showing some moves on the ice.

What’s one bucket list item?

I had one on my list for a long time that I just accomplished a few years back. In my spare time, I sing in a Swedish Choir and we meet once a week in the evenings to practice for our shows. We sing in Swedish and perform during Swedish holidays. I love singing with a group of people but hate singing solo, which is strange since my dream growing up was to be an opera singer. I had this lurking thought that I did really miss out on my opera career since I never tried it out so I decided that at least I should do one solo performance. I did, and I can tell you I was so nervous and my voice turned very small. Nowadays, I am happy with just being on stage evangelizing SAP HANA Cloud Platform and singing together with my choir.
