Blog posts are a great way for SAP, customers, and partners to share advice, insights into career trends, new opportunities, and personal success stories.
Three years ago, I was given the opportunity to take my dream job - early talent recruitment at SAP. Shortly after I was hired, our team went from hiring interns to countless, full-time roles specifically targeting graduates. At the time, SAP was making a change, and we were the team in North America to drive this change. As plans were put to action and offers were signed, I started to realize that there were several interns ready to take on a full-time role with SAP but felt something was missing. I decided to change the game, and give them a glimpse into what their #LifeAtSAP could be like.
HOW DO WE ENGAGE THIS NEW GENERATION?
Learning from the past, I added a twist. I started by scheduling events for the interns and graduates in Silicon Valley. Inclusivity was key - the events wouldn't be limited to a certain team, location, or program. The goal was to engage Early Talents who wanted to network and learn, while meeting others just like them!
NOTHING GREAT EVER CAME THAT EASY
Quickly I began to learn that despite a solid effort from SAP over the years, overall engagement was lower than I had expected. I started questioning if I was enough to drive the change. I continued to schedule and attend every event with my usual robust Italian approach. In the middle of giving it my all, I caught a glimmer of hope as I found they were just as passionate about SAP as I was. To top it off - they were smart, talented, and amazing individuals who I had the opportunity to bond with. In combining their passion and ideas with mine, a year later the SAPsv SIG Network officially launched.
“WELCOME, MY NAME IS SARENA, READY OR NOT, HERE WE GO!”
Today, SAP continues the momentum, and is now in the process of launching a Global Early Talent Ambassador Program - exciting to say the least! In being a part of his process, I have come to realize many things, but the best is: The network the SAPsv Early Talents help me create through their participation has served such an amazing purpose. The time is now to start spreading the word about who we are and what we do.
SO, WHAT EXACTLY HAVE THE ETS BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS - YOU MIGHT ASK?
Be it, rooftop lunches, hip hop classes, speaker series, volunteering, resume advice, library challenges, or even scavenger hunts to name a few- life for early talents at SAPsv is never just a typical day in the office. There have been numerous employees at SAP who have joined me in this effort over the years –individuals from University Alliance, Startup Focus, Diversity and Inclusion, to C-level executives – to name a few. Thank you for your partnership as together we have built bridges not silos, for the next generation employees.
ANNOUNCING, THE EARLY TALENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
On August 24th, the Early Talent Ambassador Program will officially launch in the Silicon Valley, and will be managed by local ETs. A local component of the new overall Global Early Talent Program Framework. What makes this program unique is that it will take was the SIG network started, while continuing to grow the efforts as an inclusive early talent program that provides events and resources to foster education on SAP’s strategy, expand networks, increase engagement, and retention among the organization.
With an attempt to spread the word, ready or not, I would like to introduce you to the new Early Talent Ambassador Program! #RecruiterLifeCA #lifeatSAP
