This May KASAPIN40 International team took part in the First Lego League Open Africa Championship, proudly sponsored by SAP. At the World Finals in South Africa the team won second place in Robot Mechanical Design award. This is the first prize from World Finals for team which is representing Bulgaria. Congratulations!

The SAP team became international earlier this year. There are two boys from Bulgaria (Sofia), two girls from Germany (Paderborn) and two girls from Norway (Hammerfest). Coaches are our colleagues from SAP Labs Bulgaria Petar Petrov and Tsvetko Trendafilov.

“SAP was main sponsor of the competition and KASAPIN40. On our pit there was handmade poster by the kids showing SAP HANA.”, said Petar. “Most of the judges at the competition have recognized the team as unique, because of the mixed nations, the one that has an innovative robot programming strategy (java based code) and used sophisticated mechanical construction to have five attachments point with motion with only one motor. They called us “the mixed team” or “the java guys”, “the international team”. The experience was useful and inspiring for all of us and we had a lot of fun.”, added he.

Tsvetko explained: “On this stage of the competition one team could win only one prize. If the team is nominated for more categories, it gets only one of the awards and releases all the other awards for other teams. We have proved that it is possible to have a team with members from different locations, even different countries in our case. Using technologies and working from a distance can be done in effective way; everybody was surprised by our success.”

We all wish KASAPIN40 success and many other awards in the future!
