To get an overview on the usage and adoption you can focus on the contractual license consumption or on the functional business usage and see to which extend do you use the functionalities of your purchased public cloud products.

In addition to providing information about Public Cloud License Consumption (“How many of the purchased licenses have been consumed”), you can now also have a deeper look into the functional usage data of your licensed Public Cloud products. With that you gain a better understanding which functionalities of a product your company is actually using, and to what extent.

You can access the new Cloud Functional Usage section from the Entry page using the relevant ‘Summary’ card below or by using the section “Cloud Functional Usage” in the Tab Menu.

The functional usage is based on the Solution Capabilities which have been defined to reflect the business functionality.

A Solution Capability describes a functional ability of a single or multiple Software Products that implement and support a Business Capability. A Solution Capability is assigned to at least one product, in some cases to more than one product, e.g. when more than one subscribed product is needed to build up a business functionality.

The measurement values shown here are retrieved from your production systems only. A Solution Capability is considered as Used as soon as there are positive traffic values of mainly documents and/or calls. If there are no positive traffic values of documents and/or calls, a Solution Capability is considered as Non-Used.

In the first graph you can see all solution capabilities grouped as “used” and “non-used” displayed per month for max 12 months period. This allows you to see the trend of the functional usage, e.g. whether the usage increases historically or stays as it was at the beginning. Selecting the segment of the column in the graph will show you only Solution Capabilities related to this segment. Note that some functionalities and so also some Solution Capabilities might be used not every month.
The line in the graph displays the relation of the used and non-used Solution Capabilities as functional usage percentage rate for your products. The time frame can be adjusted using the appropriate filter.

In the second graph you see an overview on all available Solution Capabilities as totals for the selected time and grouped by Solution Areas. Within e.g. 6 months it may be the case that a solution area is Used in some of those months, and in other months it’s Non-Used. In this graph you can see the aggregated usage over 6 months. This means that any Solution Capabilities that were used in ANY of the 6 months will count as Used, and only Solution Capabilities that were not used at all within the 6 months will be counted as Non-Used. This graph allows you to see how many Solution Capabilities have not been used at all during the selected period and in which solution areas you could improve the functional usage.

If you would like to visualize the Solution Capabilities which have not been used at all for the selected time you can do it with some small adjustments as explained below.

Example: You see that 3 of 7 Solution capabilities from Learning and Talent have not been used at all during the last 12 months.

Use the Solution Area filter to select Learning and Talent and reduce the number of entries in the table and in the graph.

To visualize the capabilities in the graph you can change the graph and display the Solution Capabilities themselves instead of showing how many of them have not been used during the last 12 months.  For this you go to the customization of the graph and replace the dimension “Solution Area” by the dimension “Solution Capability”.

As result you would get the names of the relevant Solution Capabilities. Now if you select the bar in the graph the table will display the details only for the selected Solution Capability.

Additionally to an overview of the functional usage across all products you can focus on a single product by using the filter for the Logical Product. All graphs and the table will be updated according to your selection. This is the way how you easily can check the functional usage of each logical product.

In the table you see all Solution Capabilities listed with additional details and link to the documentation and to the relevant logical product. Here you can see additional details to the Product like orders, number of systems etc.

When subscribed a material bundle that allows you to use some functionalities (Solution Capabilities) assigned to a particular Logical Product, though you did not subscribe explicitly for this Product itself. This explains why in this case you might see logical products listed in the table with Solution Capabilities which you did not purchased. You would see it when you navigate to the product using the link in the table.
