Data Source and Service Selection configuration in SAP Business Application Studio

Hello,

I am doing the exercise Creating an analytical list page of the course "Developing and Extending SAP Fiori Elements Apps". I don't know how to complete the Data Source and Service Selection in SAP Business Application Studio.

I've completed the previous exercises. According to the information provided in the Git repository, I am supposed to get "abap-cloud-default_abap-trial" as an option for "System":

Based on the information provided in the Git repository, I assume this option means connecting to the back end I've used earlier in this course. Is the back end connected with my account in SAP BTP?

In Eclipse, I needed to provide a service key and to log in to connect the back end, in VSCode, I needed only to provide a service key, and in SAP BAS, I don't see a possibility to provide a service key.

Why do I not get the option "abap-cloud-default_abap-trial" for "System"?

Best regards,

Alexander Schädlich

@Alexander_Schaedlich , If i understand correctly, the possible reason is that the system connection configuration. You need to configure the system and that system should have the services enables (Be it Public cloud/ ADT/ABAP in Cloud/ S/4HANA Etc).

I think that system connection step is missing.

Let us know otherwise, thanks a lot.

@Srikanth,

thanks for the reply. Following the instructions provided on the page you've linked, I've tried to connect to the SAP BTP Cloud Foundry in Eclipse. It said: "Could not find any Organization. Please contact your SAP BTP Global Account Administrator."

In the SAP BTP Cockpit, it says I don't have global accounts:

What should I do?

Can I connect to the ABAP Service instance using a service key instead?

@Alexander_Schaedlich , Thanks. You can go either with option Access Feature Set B or Have a SAP BTP Trail Account > Global account. You have something as below.

In the SAP BTP cockpit, you can create a service key for the ABAP system. You can use this service key later to specify the ABAP instance to which you want to log on from the ABAP Development Tools (ADT)

Hope this helps.

@Srikanth,

thanks. I don't have a global account in SAP BTP Cockpit. I get this when I go to "Access Feature Set B global accounts at https://cockpit.btp.cloud.sap" from Home:

and this when I go to "Switch Global Account" from Trial Account Home:

2.png

In the SAP BTP Cockpit under Trial Account, Services, Instances and Subscriptions, I have this ABAP instance:

I've used this instance's service key to connect to BTP in the ABAP Development Tools in Eclipse. However, I do not get the service as an option when configuring the Data Source and Service in SAP Business Apllication Studio.

@Alexander_Schaedlich , Thanks. with the above information you was able to successfully actiavte the booster - ABAP Environment in SAP BTP and connected to ADT - Ecplise. You need to generate/confiure a HTTP Services. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZxpAt8QgfM

https://community.sap.com/t5/technology-blogs-by-members/http-services-in-sap-btp/ba-p/13530685

After successful service confifuration in ADT, you can able to select the services when working in BAS.

Hope this helps. Thanks.

@Srikanth,

thanks for the suggestion. I have created an HTTP service in Eclipse:

But it doesn't show up in the list of systems when creating a new project in SAP Business Application Studio.
