  • Application texts can be submitted here until November 4, 2024.
  • Your learning must be completed by December 1, 2024, and a screenshot of completion together with your SAP Community username must be submitted to digitalskills@sap.com by this day at the latest.
  • We will process your request and send you your redemption code by December 20, 2024 at the latest.

Hello there and thank you for your interest in the digital skills initiative by SAP Learning!

The digital skills initiative is intended to help those who are generally considered to be underrepresented in the technology industry get a kick start in their careers within the SAP Ecosystem.

The definition of people considered to be underrepresented in the technology industry varies by geographic location. However, we can provide the following guideline to help you understand the sort of people we are looking to support with this initiative:

    • Military veterans and their spouses, family and caregivers
    • Women
    • Single parents
    • People who are physically disabled or neurodivergent
    • People in remote or underserved locations that may be not have access to the same economic opportunities as their urban or more privileged counterparts
    • Minorities who may not have equal opportunity in their geographic location
    • First generation college students
    • People looking to switch their careers mid-life
    • People who lack the financial means to afford a certification attempt for themselves

If you identify as a person in one or several of these categories, the digital skills initiative might be for you. The final prerequisite is a willingness to learn more about SAP and to undergo the rigors of studying for SAP Certification.

Here are the next steps on how to proceed:

Step 1 – Create an SAP Account

You will need an SAP account to track your studies and take a certification exam. Watch the demo in this blog for help on how to do that. Please use the same email address that you intend on registering with the digital skills initiative.

Also be sure to join the beginner corner as demonstrated in the demo – this is how you can reach out and ask questions.

Step 2 - Let us know you are interested

Either leave a comment below or start a discussion in the beginner corner stating a clear interest in participating in the digital skills initiative. Feel free to include a bit about yourself like academic / professional background and why you feel you are a good fit to the program. We will send you a registration link to the initiative via direct message. Please ensure private messaging is enabled on your profile.

Another key reason for this step is if you need help with part of a learning journey that you selected (in step 4 below), you can come back here (the beginner corner) to ask for help.

Step 3 – Make sure you have context

We have a long blog available attempting to explain the whole "learning SAP" process from beginning to certification. Take from it what you need to ensure getting certified in SAP is worth the effort to you.

Step 4 - Begin studying

Pick a learning journey that best fits your interests which also leads to a certification. Any learning journey and any exam is covered by this program. Study it to completion, then send a screenshot of the completion & your SAP Community username to digitalskills@sap.com  before 1 December 2024.

Here is a guide on how to determine if your learning journey is free of charge.

Step 5 – Receiving your certification attempt

After your learning journey completion is sent to digitalskills@sap.com, please give us some time to process your request. You will receive a redemption code for your SAP certification attempt as soon as we can get one to you.

Please redeem the code ASAP when you receive it. You can schedule the actual exam up to six month after redemption.

Step 6 - Schedule your exam

Check out our blog on how to schedule your SAP Certification exam.

Step 7 - Explore Career Options

Check out the career corner

Here is a guide on how to approach networking within the SAP Community & Ecosystem

We wish you the best of luck in your learning journey! Leave a comment below if you have any questions.

David

Hello @David_Chaviano

I'm a SAP ABAP Developer from India. I've been working in SAP ABAP development for 2 years now. I identified as a person for this certification because I am a women, first generation college graduate in my family, People in remote or underserved locations that may be not have access to the same economic opportunities as their urban or more privileged counterparts, Minorities who may not have equal opportunity in their geographic location.

I really love working with SAP because it helps businesses improve their processes. It's amazing to see how technology can make such a big difference. I want to keep learning and growing in this field to have a great career.

I'm eager to take a free certification attempt because I believe it will help me learn more and become even better at what I do. I know that the world of technology is always changing, and I want to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements.I am grateful for this opportunity and excited about the possibilities ahead. Thank you for considering my application for the free certification attempt.

Hi @David_Chaviano ,

My name is Paul and I am currently an educational consultant working in the special education sector. I've always been fascinated by business, but have struggled to find a way to attach this passion to a much needed educational background. I think this opportunity would be an amazing way to start me on a new career as an SAP solution designer. I loved your analogy about the amusement park experience and I certainly identify as one of those people who would love to learn more about the bigger picture about how businesses operate, improve their processes and provide quality products  and/or services to their customers.

I believe this digital skills initiative is a great way to pay it forward and help those take the first step in transforming their lives. While I can promise to maintain my motivation to learn, what I think is more important is my promise to continue to pay it forward and help educate those on my experience when the time comes by sharing my own wisdom and knowledge.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity,

Paul

Hi David

As a 42-year-old black male residing in South Africa after emigrating from Zimbabwe, this program has a special meaning for me. I come from an educational/academic background where i was a dedicated English teacher, nurturing knowledge and skills among young minds. While education provided me with fulfillment, I developed an enthusiasm for technology after buying myself a Pentium 2 computer. At the age of 32, I took a risk and changed careers to pursue a career in information systems. Changing careers presented new hurdles, but I remained determined and put in many hours to gain the essential knowledge and abilities in the IT area. This led me to a degree in Information Systems, a critical milestone that provided the groundwork for my success in this field.

I've wanted to become SAP certified since the beginning of this journey because it's a globally recognized and industry-leading platform. However, budgetary constraints have always been a key impediment to achieving this goal. As someone who believes in equal access to education for all, regardless of financial circumstances, the opportunity to take the SAP exam for free is certainly once in a lifetime for me. I have no doubt that earning the SAP certification will hasten my professional development and bring up fascinating job opportunities for this aging immigrant.

Dear @David_Chaviano , Hello Everyone,

This seems to be the golden opportunity for many of us willing to put in efforts.I am Prateek Joshi from a tier 2 town in South of India.

I was a production engineer in a small town and unfortunately the company got shut down in 2018 leaving several hundreds of breadwinners jobless.I have studied Mechanical engineering and during my work as a Production Engineer I came in contact with SAP systems as a End-user as it was used by my employer for Invoicing,Production planning,Supply Chain and Logistics. Hence I would like to switch my career to SAP.

Unfortunately,Corona crisis compounded the scarcity of employment and forced may of us to take any available jobs.I believe with this switch in  my career to SAP ,I could support my family  as the sole breadwinner.

Much Regards

@David_Chaviano

Hello,

How nice to find this community!

I am a middle-age single-mom reinventing myself (again, again). For the last 10 years I have been an Art teacher for middle age students in a large public school district (Broward County, FL). Prior to teaching I worked for a municipal government in procurement. I earned a BA in Fine Art in 1993. I earned an MBA in non-profit management in 1999. I earned a teaching certificate in 2013. I like to learn.

I am ready to transition out of a classroom setting back into a business setting. My ideal scenario is to use my experiences in purchasing and educational settings toward my school district's cost savings and efficiency initiatives.  I have a specific position identified, "Process Analyst, Procurement & Warehousing Services". To prepare for an interview I chose "Discovering End-End Business Processes for the Intelligent Enterprise" to become familiar with ERP / SAP terminology. Luckily, I also found training presentations other school districts posted for their staff. I understand the ERP purpose and interdependence of activities; I love the complexity and possibilities. I need to build my knowledge of K-12 structures. Then a deep dive into procurement.

An opportunity to be certified will benefit me greatly. I appreciate that SAP is making so many learning tools available for free and further supporting target groups. If I can qualify for free certification testing than I have no excuses and can reach this personal goal.

I hope I get the job. I hope my employer provides me with ongoing training tools. Regardless, I hope to be an active tech user for this next phase of my career. Thank you for your consideration.

Be well,

Meredith

Hello  @David_Chaviano ,

My name is Shubham Kharbanda, and I hail from the beautiful city of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, India. I come to you with a burning passion for digital skills and a resolute determination to participate in the SAP Digital Skills Initiative.

Having witnessed the disparity in economic opportunities in my hometown, I took it upon myself to explore avenues that would allow me to learn and grow in the IT industry. Despite previously working as a marine engineer, I made a brave decision to switch careers and enter the world of Information Technology. Today, I boast over 6+ years of experience in the IT sector, but my heart yearns for something more - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition Sourcing and Procurement.

Driven by my extensive interest in SAP, I've taken courses on Udemy to enhance my knowledge and skills. Now, standing at the midpoint of my career, I am eager to embrace the SAP domain wholeheartedly. The SAP Digital Skills Initiative presents an invaluable opportunity for me to learn, grow, and obtain certification, allowing me to propel my career forward in the SAP landscape.

With utmost gratitude, I seek your support and acceptance of my application. Being selected to join this initiative would not only fulfill my aspirations but also enable me to contribute significantly to the SAP domain.

Dear @David_Chaviano  I am a SAP FI Consultant from India. I've been working in SAP FI  for 6 Months now. I identified as a person for this certification because I am a women, first generation college graduate in my family, People in remote or underserved locations that may be not have access to the same economic opportunities as their urban or more privileged counterparts,

Thanks & Regards,

Amrita Adhikari
