  • Application texts can be submitted here until November 4, 2024.
  • Your learning must be completed by December 1, 2024, and a screenshot of completion together with your SAP Community username must be submitted to digitalskills@sap.com by this day at the latest.
  • We will process your request and send you your redemption code by December 20, 2024 at the latest.
  • You must redeem your code in the training shop by December 31, 2024, but can schedule your exam for any date in the following 12 months  (December 31, 2025 at the latest.)

Hello there and thank you for your interest in the digital skills initiative by SAP Learning!

The digital skills initiative is intended to help those who are generally considered to be underrepresented in the technology industry get a kick start in their careers within the SAP Ecosystem.

The definition of people considered to be underrepresented in the technology industry varies by geographic location. However, we can provide the following guideline to help you understand the sort of people we are looking to support with this initiative:

    • Military veterans and their spouses, family and caregivers
    • Women
    • Single parents
    • People who are physically disabled or neurodivergent
    • People in remote or underserved locations that may be not have access to the same economic opportunities as their urban or more privileged counterparts
    • Minorities who may not have equal opportunity in their geographic location
    • First generation college students
    • People looking to switch their careers mid-life
    • People who lack the financial means to afford a certification attempt for themselves

If you identify as a person in one or several of these categories, the digital skills initiative might be for you. The final prerequisite is a willingness to learn more about SAP and to undergo the rigors of studying for SAP Certification.

Here are the next steps on how to proceed:

Step 1 – Create an SAP Account

You will need an SAP account to track your studies and take a certification exam. Watch the demo in this blog for help on how to do that. Please use the same email address that you intend on registering with the digital skills initiative.

Also be sure to join the beginner corner as demonstrated in the demo – this is how you can reach out and ask questions.

Step 2 - Let us know you are interested

Either leave a comment below or start a discussion in the beginner corner stating a clear interest in participating in the digital skills initiative. Feel free to include a bit about yourself like academic / professional background and why you feel you are a good fit to the program. We will send you a registration link to the initiative via direct message. Please ensure private messaging is enabled on your profile.

Another key reason for this step is if you need help with part of a learning journey that you selected (in step 4 below), you can come back here (the beginner corner) to ask for help.

Step 3 – Make sure you have context

We have a long blog available attempting to explain the whole "learning SAP" process from beginning to certification. Take from it what you need to ensure getting certified in SAP is worth the effort to you.

Step 4 - Begin studying

Pick a learning journey that best fits your interests which also leads to a certification. Any learning journey and any exam is covered by this program. Study it to completion, then send a screenshot of the completion & your SAP Community username to digitalskills@sap.com  before 1 December 2024.

Here is a guide on how to determine if your learning journey is free of charge.

Step 5 – Receiving your certification attempt

After your learning journey completion is sent to digitalskills@sap.com, please give us some time to process your request. You will receive a redemption code for your SAP certification attempt as soon as we can get one to you.

Please redeem the code ASAP when you receive it. You can schedule the actual exam up to six month after redemption.

Step 6 - Schedule your exam

Check out our blog on how to schedule your SAP Certification exam.

Step 7 - Explore Career Options

Check out the career corner

Here is a guide on how to approach networking within the SAP Community & Ecosystem

We wish you the best of luck in your learning journey! Leave a comment below if you have any questions.

David

Hi @David_Chaviano

My name is Muso, and I hold an MBA with a specialization in Innovation and Technology. I have extensive experience in accounting and finance.

I am now positioning myself for a career transition from accounting and finance to SAP consultancy. Originally from Africa where I served in the Air Force as a junior-level finance officer, I relocated to the UK as a refugee. Upon settling, I completed several professional accounting courses and pursued part-time undergraduate studies in Business Management, followed by a part-time MBA.

Since then, I have taken various short-term courses on Coursera, including Business Analytics, SAP Consultancy, and Data Science. Additionally, I earned a certificate of achievement for the Overview of Financials in SAP S/4HANA.

I am drawn to SAP consultancy as it presents an opportunity to help businesses optimize their domain models and processes, especially within finance and accounting. From my research, I understand that SAP offers the most robust ERP solutions, enabling businesses to integrate their processes for increased efficiency and effective resource management.

I believe I am well-equipped for the SAP certification, and with my diverse skill set and strong professional background, I am confident I can be an outstanding representative of SAP in the workplace and across various business domains.

Hello @David_Chaviano,

My name is Muhammad Zohaib, and I am from Pakistan.
Pakistan is struggling underdeveloped country where access to opportunities in the technology sector is limited. I have been working as an MIS Officer for the past three years. Unfortunately, due to not having an SAP certification, I have not been promoted.

Currently, I earn around $230 per month, and I come from a financially challenged background. I live in a joint family with my retired father, who is mostly bedridden, and I am responsible for supporting my entire family, which includes my parents, two younger brothers, and three sisters. As the sole breadwinner, advancing in my career is not just a personal goal but a necessity to provide a better future for my family.

I am particularly interested in SAP Business Processes and have recently completed the learning journey "Explore Integrated Business Processes in SAP S/4HANA," which leads to the certification C_TS410_2020 - SAP Certified Associate - Business Process Integration with SAP S/4HANA 2020. However, due to my financial constraints, I have been unable to afford the certification exam, which is critical for my career progression and personal growth.

I am passionate about learning SAP S/4 HANA and believe that participating in the digital skills initiative would be a life-changing opportunity for me. I am eager to learn, grow, and make a meaningful contribution to the SAP ecosystem.

Thank you for considering my application.

Best regards,

Dear @David_Chaviano,

I'd like to start with a big "Thank you" for an opportunity such as this.

A little bit about me, I served 8 years in the U.S. Coast Guard primarily performing search and rescue but also went into a specialized security role. It's the latter role where I experienced hardships based on my gender. I had no other choice than to give up my career and transition out of the military.

Most recently, I have been a stay-at-home Mom since being laid off last October from a travel nurse staffing company where I worked as a credentialing specialist, verifying a candidate’s licenses and required knowledge for a wide range of nursing jobs. I not only made sure a candidate was qualified for a role but also had to uphold regulations and protocol to ensure they were a right fit. I upheld vendor requirements to make sure our partners were more than satisfied with our nurses.

When possible, I have filled my spare time exploring a career in SAP. I believe that gaining a toolset such as SAP is the missing puzzle piece for me. Having been undervalued in the past, I am more determined than ever to come out on top. Becoming certified in a SAP career path gives me the opportunity to think critically and help create solutions to running a business, whether that be a small business or a big corporation.

I am ready and eager to take the next steps to becoming certified in one of the career paths SAP has to offer. I believe I embody the ideal candidate for the Digital Skills Initiative’s support based on the following criteria:

  • I am a Military veteran
  • I am a Women
  • I am considered a disabled veteran through the VA (considered employable) and neurodivergent - I refer to it as neuro-spicy 😉
  • I'm switching careers to better align with with my goals and aspirations.
  • It would cause hardship as a single income household to pay for a certification attempt. Which is why I landed here when exploring avenues to make this career shift possible.

Again, thank you for your consideration.

Hello Dear,

My career commenced in 2017 with a one-month internship, following which I graduated in 2018.

In 2019, I pursued a course in SAP Production Planning (PP) and subsequently took on various roles within the ERP domain. In 2020, I was offered a position as an ERP System Specialist with a Company, where I initially worked with Microsoft Dynamics AX. After a year, the company undertook an upgrade to SAP S/4HANA, marking the beginning of my journey with SAP.

In my initial role as an Application Support Specialist, I gained valuable experience with the logistics cycle, including the MM, PP, and QM modules, and resolved numerous issues. This experience significantly deepened my expertise in the PP and QM modules.

After 1.5 years, I transitioned to a new role as a PP and QM Consultant with Another Company , where I expanded my knowledge further and participated in a comprehensive End-to-End (E2E) implementation.

To further enhance my skills and credentials, I am seeking certification in SAP Quality Management (QM) and would greatly appreciate your support in this endeavor.
