Variable Field name while calling WA

Hello All,

This might sound very weird but can we do something like this..

data : variable type string value 'FIELD1'.

loop at itab.
   wa-(variable) = 'Some Value..!'.
   append wa to itab.
endloop.

Meaning, can we use a variable as a Field name while calling wa-Field1...??

Any pointers ???
