Transporting a sub project to another project

Hi,

I have created a LSMW project, but I need to move the sub project to another project on the same system/client. How can I do that? I have tried to do that over the administration, but if I do so, it only copies the elements, but for example the conversion rules are missing...

Is it possible to export/import only a sub project and then choose, in which project I want to import it?

Thank you!

Yes, export/import should work. But you have to make sure that you also copy all relevant reusable rules, recordings etc. as these are stored on project level.

Hi Thomas,

thank you... But when I import, I can not change the project in which I want to upload the data. The project name of the project, which I have exported, can't be changed while importing...

Or is that possible in any way?

There is a button "Import under another name" after you selected the import file, give it a try.

Ultima ratio would be to edit the file itself before import...handle with care

Hi Thomas,

the problem is, when I choose the option to "import with different name", it always says,

that the project is still existing. That's true! But I just want to import another sub project...

Changing the file could be too difficult as it would be corrupted, when I just forget one

keyword.

Thank you

You can mark the objects that you want to import before hitting the button. Include only the one you want to copy. Try it in a sandbox first if possible.

Sorry, I have no further ideas after this.

Hi,

thank you. I know, I have just marked the sub project. But when I choose "import with different name"

I just can choose the main project name. And when I choose one, which is still created, I can't import.

Ok, but thank you anyway...

You know what, this keeps bothering me, because this should be possible. I successfully copied a subproject with all its objects to a different project via administration. All conversion rules were there (spot checks). Reusable rules need to be transferred separately if needed.

Maybe you're working with an older LSMW version that has a bug in this area? Mine is 4.0.0. Maybe try searching OSS for a fix.

Thank you for all answers....

It must be the old version of LSMW in 4.6c that has bugs.... It was not possible to copy the sub projects in administration with all elements, but when I have copied the recording separtely AFTERWARDS, it was working...

So thank you all for the help. It's amazing how just small things can end up in some time of stupid trying around...

Cheers

That's how we learn stuff so that it sticks, isn't it?

Cheers

goto LSMW tcode. then select GOTO---> Administration , there you have to select the program and select the copy option, you have to copy project or sub project or object , you have to what you want..
