Spool is like an element of a Print Server. It contains data to be printed.

The spool in SAP, most of the time contains OTF, it is the language of the SAP spool

check SP01, you could see the content of a spool, if you request in the menu to see the raw data

OTF, ABAP list, PDF, etc. (a spool file may technically contain anything, there's no "one language")

Spools Holds the data for us in SAP.

For eg: When Jobs are run in background, the output of the programs will be stored in Spool. Once the Job is completed we can see the result of the Job through the Spool Data.

Spools are basically referred by the spool Numbers. Below Are few transactions related to Spool.

SP01, SP02, SP03 etc..

Below Link helps you for better understanding.

"spool" in the sense of "spooling" the output of a program to a persistent support.

In ABAP, the term "spool" is used with old technology - Instead of displaying the result list of a report to the screen, the list may go to a spool file (physical file in the file system).
