Can anyone direct me to documents that deal with configuring single sign on in ESS-Portal (Using with webdynpro)?

Hi Kiran,

Take a look at the SAP NetWeaver authentication and SSO documentation here:

SSO config for the portal is mostly done at the Application Server level, however, there is also a section for the Portal specifics.

there is also a demo online on how to set up SSO as part of a TechED Hands-On session.
