Hi,
I am preparing a document on data migration for SAP BP and DM.
What are the risks, challenges and areas that will need careful consideration etc..
If this is not the correct forum, please let me know where to post.

Hi Rajesh,
I'm in the exact same position as you right now. Migrating from Legacy to SAP Banking Services and trying to research a migration strategy.
It's only day 2 for me, so I don't have much to share unfortunately (I don't even have SAP access yet!); however, check out [Data Transfer from External Systems and Source Systems|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_banking50/helpdata/en/95/7a0a3b96729e29e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm].
This will detail some options related to Business Partner data transfer. My understanding is that since the BP is central to most of the other data (Master Contracts, G/L Accounts), the transfer methods are centred around the BP BAPIs/DI programs/"Complex Interface" (i.e. BAPIs again) and possibly get uploaded within or at the same time as the BP data. It's really hard for me to tell without getting into SAP.
Also, word of mouth recommendation on using the Direct Input programs available through the IMG. In fact, via IMG step documentation, there is probably a lot more information on approaches.
Sorry I couldn't help more. I know I wrote more about methods rather than risks and recommended best practices.
Perhaps you are able to assist me with any information you have acquired so far? Much appreciated.
One question I have is, what are the issues about attempting to convert too much account history (i.e. inactive accounts)? More specifically, the risks that go beyond the standard conversion concerns of trying to migrate too much history. As in, is this old data really critical to be in SAP (and not an archival system for instance)? Because, as the saying goes, mo' history mo' problems in conversions.
It doesn't really go like that, but you know.
Thanks!
Chris
