You cannot expect better help than that provided by SAP.

Hi

to create a package u need to go to SE21

Application component: u can simpley say which module ur working on. Once you mention SAP will accumulate it in perticular area.

eg:

AP Application Platform

CA Cross-Application Components

EP Enterprise Portal

FI Financial Accounting

PM Plant Maintenance

Software component:

it means ur storingthe perticular package as a part of some software component. this is useful in case of new version releases. when they are released u package will be moved with with that software component

Transport layer

The transport layer determines whether objects are assigned to a local or transportable change request.

Package type:

not a main package means comes under perticular component

main package u may include some special packages in it also
