field size

hi,

i have a field with size 9 and 5 decimal point. if value accumulated for this field greater than the size allocated what should i do. i do not want to change the size.

It will give dump. For avoiding this you may calculate the length of the result before moving value to this field. If result goes over the size the field , then you can give message to user.

Please give more info, the field is in report or dialog or others....

i dont think you can avoid the dump error without declaring a new variable with bigger size. If it is in report you can try for type p decimals 5. It will show the result in same way ...... it does not affect your output with leading zero or any thing..

For avoiding dump you need to change with size of the field.
