You can write your own report programs via SE38. You can develop queries SQ01 which use infosets which you develop using SQ02. There is also a "quick viewer" where you can develop queries "on the fly" and which are temporary via SQV1(i think that this is the tcode). You can also development reports using Report Painter, not sure what the tcode for this is.

In logistics you can also use LIS/SIS.
And of course the best is BW if you have it...

are you looking at third party tools?
if yes Crystal report is one option.
