Create an ALV grid with field heading groups

Hello, is it possible to display an ALV report with column headings grouped like this?

So fields 4 and 5 belong to group1 and fields 6 and 7 belong to group 2 etc.

This question was asked a lot of times in the forum. It is NOT possible. There are (unsatisfactory) workarounds though like adding a dummy first line to represent the second line of the heading.
