Can a unique Database index be changed?

Hi all..

I have a small doubt regarding the Unique database index of a customised table.

In a customised table , is it possible to change the index from unique index to non unique index?

If yes how can we do that? Do we need to create the complete table again?

In a customised table is it feasible to change the unique index to non unique index? I mean what effect it will make overall?

Thanks

I don't think you can change particulary if you have data in the table, but you may delete(drop index in db terminology) the index and recreate it.

Please close the duplicate post you created for the same issue.

As Srinivas has already pointed out, you cannot do this as long as you have data in the table.

Actually, when you try to do this and say activate, the system will guide you through a series of steps to activate the changes you make.

YOu should go to se14 transaction to activate your changes made to the structure of the table(Including dropping of indexes).
