Background jobs to run with changed job status

We are having a problem with a background job that runs every end of the month for the period closing. The period closing is at 7:30 at the end of every month then the background job runs at 10PM. There are errors since the Job Status needs to be changed to "F" and find the job number from table TBTCO. Another job needs to run with the job change to "A" to avoid errors. Is there a way that I can write this or would I need to do a custom report, keep in mind that I am new to SAP. Thanks.

Since there have been no replies for a few days, I must be not the only one confused by this post. What exactly is the problem and how did you arrive at the conclusion that the job status somehow needs to be manipulated? And have you checked with your Basis admin on this?

keep in mind that I am new to SAP

So? What does it have to do with the question? Are we supposed to "dumb down" the answers? Or does it make you "more equal" than other SCN members? I'm confused here too...

Hi,

I think the OP just means that when we answer, we shouldn't assume too much prior knowledge

(eg of how background jobs work in SAP).

But I'm a little confused by the question too. Shawn, what exactly are you trying to do?

cheers

Paul

I'm sorry. There is a job that runs at the end of each month.

Period Closing 03/31/2016 7:30 PM

Backjob run at 10:00 PM. Results failed.

It gets the job status from the TBTCO table. It needs to find the job name and change the status to "F" for Finish. Then there needs to be another background job with the changed status

Wow, OK. Posting a whiteboard screenshot takes "spec dumping" to the whole new level...

We don't change any job statuses. It serves no purpose and makes no sense. Schedule the jobs in such a way that they don't fail, problem solved. If you need some program to manage the job scheduling - tons of examples already available on SCN.

Sorry, but I feel you should just tell whomever is asking this that you are "new to SAP" and they need someone more qualified involved. Obviously they have no clue themselves, based on what's written.

Note - "spec dumping" is not allowed on SCN (see this blog). Make some effort first, then come back with specific questions, if any. We gladly help those who help themselves.
