This document provides details about plant maintenance activity during automobile repairing work in SAP environment. It provides an over view on automation in service order creation in plants during automobile repairing work. The process will provide an error free environment by keeping records of an partially performed repair work , where due to some urgency/dependency partially repaired equipment’s (or automobile) needs to release from maintenance center and the remaining repairing work will carry out during next schedule maintenance work.

The purpose of this solution is to automate this process to minimize manual workload and to minimize potential errors that could occur while transferring work from one service order to another in SAP. Following are the advantages of this solution:

  • Service excellence:  May be due to hurry customer or mechanic will forget some of the remaining repairing work. However, this tool will save all remaining work in database, so that during next scheduled it can be covered for sure.

  • Reduction in business loss: As mentioned in previous point it will save remaining work with complete details so there is no chance for a vendor to miss out any work, which they can bill to customer.

  • Error free automation: There will be no manual interaction during new service order creation for remaining work. It will copy the remaining work from parent service order to new service order.

Solution is mainly used so that work can be delayed deliberately – i.e. some operations that are not safety operations can be postponed and because the product is required back in service, a decision is made to let it back to operation by completing the first order and generating another.

BAPI: BAPI_ALM_ORDER_MAINTAIN is used for this development.
