Hello community

I’m an ABAP developer and administrator since 2009. I visited a lot of SAP programming courses. My first impression about the ABAP development workbench was that it is not a really modern one. I often thought how comfortable it would be if you develop your own ABAP programmes in a modern IDE. But over time I found the ABAP development workbench better and better and perfect integrated in the SAP environment. As I heard from ABAP in Eclipse I was excited and downloaded the development environment immediately, a long time before the ABAP in Eclipse Explorer challenge started. Today I always use Eclipse for developing ABAP programmes because it is more comfortable. I hope that also the data dictionary will be integrated in Eclipse, so that there is no need to open transaction SE11. I also like the new ABAP language feature from Release 7.40. I really like the inline declaration and table expressions.

I think that the feature explorer is very helpful to make ABAP more attractive to new developers. Nevertheless it is also useful for experienced ABAP developers who wants to move to Eclipse. One of my favourite feature is to find unused variables and to delete them automatically.

In my opinion ABAP in Eclipse is a very useful innovation and want to thank the whole team.

Kind regards

Daniel
