Developing intuitive software that users want to use requires many aspects of design coming together. To help you to improve your design skills, we have a variety of design courses starting soon on openSAP.

Basics of Design Research – Starts January 25
The purpose of design research is to create an empathy for your end-users and to uncover users’ needs – some they are aware of but, some are subconscious needs. In this course, learners will get an introduction to the role of design research in your planning and execution of software design. The course will explain terms that are commonly associated with design research as well as looking at the steps in-depth. Learners will also have the opportunity to take part in a research challenge.

Be Visual! Sketching Basics for IT Business – Starts February 20
This four week course will cover a variety of sketching situations such as flipchart, whiteboard, copy paper (A4/Letter size), and post-its. The course starts out with the basics of drawing shapes and improving your handwriting, and once you’ve got the basics, we’ll move on to processes and flow charts as well as screen sketches. With these techniques, you can apply your new skills in a professional setting to impress your peers, customers, and management.

Developing Software Using Design Thinking – Starts February 28
Experience design thinking and develop empathy for your users by “putting yourself in their shoes”. This six week course consists of the usual online videos and weekly assignments to help you get an understanding about what design thinking is, with everyone welcome to enroll and take part. To earn a Record of Achievement, you will need to take part in group work with a limited number of places available.

All of these design courses are now open for enrollment.
