Maybe try connecting to the ABAP server using the SAP Gui for Windows or Java, depending on your platform(i guess in this case Java.)

So either follow the step

"Connecting to the ABAP server from SAP GUI for Windows",

or

"Connecting to the ABAP server from SAP GUI for Java"

of the document you shared.
