Hi Tom,

it depends on your requirement.

My personal most-loved transaction for this purpose is STERM (Sap Terminology). It is extremely useful because it will give you different translation for different contexts, obsolete translations and some more stuff.

Clemens

I doubt if there is any table maintained for language translation in SAP . In your login screen you can set the language you need.

Thereafter you can find the terms in respective languages.

You can refer this SAP help file:

Hi,

Check this table DD03T . But you need to give the SAP field name.

Srini.

Hi

I do not think this table will help me.

E.g. I entered the field TPLNR, but I could not see the screen texts for this field in different languages.

Best regards

Tom

What is exactly your requirement like?

Why do you need the translated text. You can maintain translation of texts in SE63.

As said earlier, you can set your language in login screen and check for the table fields translation.

Hi

The reason is that we logon in 2 languages. English and Norwegian.

And one of the process owners has asked for a list of SAP terms in his area (PM and DMS) with both the English and Norweigan value

E.g.

English Norwegian

Functional Location Teknisk Plass

Equipment Utstyr

Cost Centre Kostnadssted

Plant Fabrikk

With such a list it is much more easy to communicate between users lonon in different languages.

Best regards

Tom

Hi Tom,

May be you can go with google translator and design a list for the recommended terms the business owner has asked for.

it is really difficult to maintain all the fields translation as PM and DMS modules might be having pool of tables.

Yeah its difficult communicating with users or you can follow the steps described here.

[[Maintaining Language-Dependent Texts|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_smehp1/helpdata/en/67/86b257415811d1893d0000e8323c4f/content.htm]

A better bet is maybe table DD04T, which holds the data element texts. I would assume that all "important" fields have their own data elements. Also, the language dependent texts and labels are stored under the data element.

Now it is just a matter to determine the relevant data elements, like TPLNR...

Thanks for sharing this. I was curious and did a little research, STERM seems to be for maintenance and SAPTERM for looking up values ("nice" web-like interface). The texts seem to be stored in STERM_TEXT.

Where is this hidden in the SAP standard menu?
