Does abap has no future ? is ABAP alone enough in 2022 after BTP ?

Hello experts,

I am ABAP fresher .there are lots of rumors going around like ABAP has no future, etc...

I have certain doubts as a fressher , please clarify .

1. does ABAP has no future ?

2.i am a fresher with only ABAP knowledge , what techical skills should i learn next as advanced technologies like BTP comes in ?

I've been doing ABAP since 1997. The same question has been asked quite often during that time. Answer: yes, ABAP has a future.

ABAP has a bright future. It is being actively developed by SAP and SAP uses it a lot to develop their products. Also there is so much legacy code that I do not see how SAP could abandon ABAP in a foreseeable future.

I would suggest that you get acquainted with topics as:

• ABAP Object Oriented programming
• Test Driven Development - see the openSAP course Writing Testable Code for ABAP
• Programming frameworks like BOBF and/or RAP
