DDIC Standard Domain -Text20 Partial Active

Dear all,

By running Activation Log of Domain-Text20 , we got some Dependent table.

To activate those Dependent table we use Tcode- SE14.

But after running SE14 tcode we are getting Short dumps in SAP system

Hi Mayur,

while running tcode SE14 for any table, dump was occurred at select query...this select query extracting data from table TBTCO .....this table TBTCO is partial active because text20 is field of this TBTCO table..

Have you already tried to activate them without the database utilities? Maybe separated from each other.

Yes, I tried in Tcode- SE11 to activate table but getting error like field change at domain level....as Field text20 is used in given table...

Please see the below details what I did exactly in system.......

Subject: DDIC Standard Domain -Text20 Partial Active in Development Server.

We Changed length of Standard Domain-Text20  From 20 to 30 character in Tcode-SE11 at Domain level.

And click save & activate.

But Domain-Text20 is Partial Active.

Then  again I changed length from 30 to original 20 character.

and then save & activate . But still Domain-Text20 is Partial Active.

By running Activation Log of Domain-Text20 , we got some Dependent table.

But after running SE14 tcode we are getting Short dumps in SAP system

Also in many other transaction in SAP system it is giving dump.

We also use Tcode- SE11 to activate Dependent table.

But we get error like structure change at field level.

Please give us solution to activate Standard Domain-Text20 .

What happens, if you active both (domain and table) in one step (through SE11)?

Ok, I would use the database utilities (SE14) again for the table to adjust and activate it. And afterwards try to activate the domain and the table again.

Can you please tell what exact error message are you getting at domain level activation if its's activated without any error message the try to activate Data element if you are trying to activate through table. Also request you to please share screenshot of Dump details or Domain level activation issue.

Hi Nikhil,

Sorry I am unable to give Dump details because it give dump after pressing Today button in

Tcode - ST22.

Also I saw the link you provided but  his issue solved by running tcode-se14...And in my case se14 is giving dump while running....

Hi Raju,

If you are getting dump while running T-code SE14 then you cant adjust any table. One last question why standard domain changes required? As it will have lot of dependencies it's better to create custom domain.

I can suggest one thing if custom domain creation is fine with you.

Revert all the changes of domain and activate tables manually (without SE14) which you have tried to adjust earlier. once everything is activated then check SE14 and any tcode which gives you dump.

This requirement was given by functional consultant.....he required Text20 length changed to

30 character...I changed Text20 domain but unfortunately it is partial active. Then again I changed length to original 20 character but still it is partial active....

Hi Raju,

Once you revert the domain values with original value then activate domain first , then activate dependent table manually through SE11. For activation go through data element -> Domain check if it's activated or not. Also while running SE14 and ST22  you are getting dump so there might be space issue also you can check with Basis person once ( I am not sure with this option but who knows it works for you).

Hello Raju ,

Some times Database fields may be partially active, when you don't have full authorization to

database tables.

Hi Raju,

Try activating the database table in SE14 using Background Processing Type. If it does not work please check with your basis consultant whether they can revert the domain to its original format. This will result in table data loss. But it order to avoid the run time errors this is the best option.

After giving table name in SE14 ....I am getting dump....Because of that I am unable to see Background Processing Type option as it is on next screen. And second option  given by you  it is last option for me...I will try to search other option first  to get out of it... so that data loss will not happen....

Hi,

Are you getting dump for only that table tbtco.? go to that table, as you are having SAP key, make the change in the data element BTCSRVNAME, it uses this text20 as domain. Create a new z-domain for char 20 and put it at place of text20, and try.

But try this at your risk..

You should have not done that , changing from 20 to 30 , if you check the where used list for this domain , i can bet you will easily get 2K plus hits.

Thanks for your replay.

I tried to replace zdomain instead of btcsrvname but at time of check it gives error field change at domain level and  at the same time  automatically SAP replace btcsrvname instead of zdomain.

Also se14 tcode also not working....

Please share some other ways to activate it....

Hi,

I will suggest you 2 ways

1. Raise this issue to SAP. And don't do anything much, data corruption will occur.

2. Ask your Basis Team to Create a new development server and copy all the data from quality server (if you have not transported the request from Development to Quality server).

One of my senior said SAP does not support development server..

I will  ask my basis team for client copy....as it is last option for me...

We are also facing the issue for TEXT220 field. It is also partially activated even though the developer revoked the changes and activated it.

How did you resolve this issue.
