Alternative to CHVW_EXPLODE_ALL?

We have several reports and transactions that need to determine the batch genealogy for various purposes, but CHVW_EXPLODE_ALL is starting to take too long to run because it returns so many records.

Does anyone know of some other more efficiant way to determine batch genealogy?
