Hi guys,
Is it possible for SBPA to access entities/cloud functions of SAP Build Application Backend?
Idea is to create an action project wherein the source will be the entities from SAP build application backend, and then use the cloud functions as the 'actions' of the action.
For example, I've created a SAP Build Application Backend project wherein there is an 'Order' entity. In the functions tab, there is a simple 'Create' order function. Going back to the lobby, under 'Connectors', create an Action and choose the backend project as source --> is this possible?
Also, is it possible to expose the created entities externally? For example, I want to share the data inside the entity to other projects outside SAP?
Thanks,
erza

Hi,
I remember the functionality you describe (external access to Visual Cloud Functions through API) was planned in the roadmap for SAP Build Apps for Q1 2025 until not long ago, but the item seems to have disappeared now...I didn't see any communication about its release, would be nice to get confirmation whether it is still planned or what happened to it. Incidentally, a lot of items seem to have disappeared from the Build Apps product roadmap.
Hope we get some clarification,
Thanks

Hi Alessandro,
Yes, I also saw this comment mentioning it to be part of Q4 2024 roadmap Unboxing: Application Backends in SAP Build Apps (... - SAP Community looks like it got pushed to Q1 2025 as you mentioned and now no news if will still be implemented.
Agree, would be nice to get some clarification. Application backend is such a promising tool that is very easy to use for basic backend stuff. Looks like we'll have to go with an external db for now or explore it in build code
