Hello Experts,

Greetings!

I have installed the developer edition after following

https://blogs.sap.com/2018/09/13/as-abap-7.52-sp01-developer-edition-concise-installation-guide/

on Fedora OS which is a dual boot one. I am stuck at the post installation steps. I am able to execute startsap ALL. Later it says to go the transaction SLICENSE. Now the question is, do i need SAP GUI for it? If yes, kindly guide from where can i get official SAP Logon/GUI for Fedora. Or installing it as a VM is the only option? Referred to various blogs that point to various sources to download it but some links don't work or requires S-Id. Kindly guide.

Thanks & Regards,

SLICENSE you need SAP-GUI for sure !

...Dual boot...

So you don't have *another* machine with SAP-GUI Installed? I suppose not.

So installing a VM (with WIndows) just for SAP-GUI is an option but indeed it's overkill!

But Why don't you better install SAP GUI for Java? It is provided on the "client\JavaGUI" folder and it is intended among other things when you use Linux.

gui.pngHello Jesus,

I was able to install the client after your answer. But now I am unable to connect to the system. The new connection screen

has nothing by default. The system dropdown is empty. What all to enter here in order to connect to the system?

Thanks & Regards,

Akshay

I have not made SAP-GUI Java Connections before but you could use the user SAP* on client 000 or 001 with password Down1oad

Once you are logged use transaction SLICENSE.

I think you may try SAP Cloud Appliance Library, which all pre-setting and you could see how its work, what are sap gui connection information you need...
