As the SAP Sapphire 2025 global keynote outlined, this year's focus was clear: AI, applications, and data. SAP Build continues to evolve in alignment with these themes, helping organizations efficiently build, automate, and extend their business processes and applications.

Here's a roundup of Sapphire's key SAP Build announcements and innovations to watch this year.

Joule Studio: Intelligent AI Agents and Skills Builder

SAP unveiled Joule Studio, a new environment within SAP Build that helps you create, deploy, and manage AI agents and custom skills. With Joule Studio, teams can enrich Joule with company-specific skills and intelligent agents that work across SAP and third-party systems. Joule Studio brings two powerful capabilities:

  • Joule Skills: Design modular, reusable skills that can be invoked during conversations. These skills can trigger actions, pull data, and orchestrate SAP Build components like workflows, automations, or apps.
  • AI Agents: Go beyond skills by building full-fledged AI agents that dynamically execute business tasks using reasoning capabilities. These agents use business context, data from SAP systems, and large language models to adapt to user needs.

Joule Studio will be available by the end of Q2 2025, with Agent Builder capabilities expected in Q4 2025.

Early adopters like Sovanta, an SAP partner, already use Joule Studio to enhance customer service. Sovanta significantly streamlined support processes and accelerated ticket resolution by integrating conversational skills with SAP systems.

Another early adopter, Pricefx - a global leader in cloud-based pricing software - is using Joule Studio to bring AI-driven intelligence into their solution. By developing an Agentic AI copilot, they aim to deliver contextual, business-aware guidance that enhances pricing decisions for their customers.

  • AI-Enhanced ABAP Development: Developers migrating to SAP Cloud ERP can use AI to convert custom ECC code into ABAP Cloud standards. This feature simplifies modernization efforts while ensuring code quality and compliance.

These capabilities are expected in Q3 2025.

 Expanded SAP Build Capabilities

SAP Build continues to grow as a unified platform with:

  • Extensibility Wizard for SAP Business Suite: A guided wizard that helps you build side-by-side extensions with the proper context, faster. SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition and SAP SuccessFactors support is planned for release in H2 of 2025.

  • SAP Business Data Cloud Integration: Planned for Q4 2025, SAP Build will offer deep integration with SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) via CAP. Developers can consume and expose data products using virtual tables in SAP HANA Cloud, accelerating the development of insight-rich apps while reducing manual integration work. This improves data consistency and supports scalable, compliant development.
  • Event-Driven Applications: SAP Build, in combination with SAP Integration Suite and CAP, will support event-based interactions across systems. General availability is expected in H2 2025.

Simplified Pricing and Packaging

  • SAP Build offers a unified pricing model that combines app development, automation, and workspaces under a single entitlement. This simplifies adoption, reduces licensing complexity, and allows teams to build and extend at their own pace. Learn more in this blog post.
