[DJ] The April 2025 release of the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model, that's CAP to us human beings, is out. Before we dive into some of the release notes, let's just take a step back to see the major version release schedule. So the next major release of CAP, that's v9, is due very soon, and it's important for projects to not only be aware of coming changes but also to start to start transitioning and if you haven't done this yet april this april release is a great time to do that as with any new major release there'll be some changes that you'll need to pay attention to especially with things that have been deprecated and only available via backward compatibility flags during the current major release. So looking at the April release notes, the CDS language and compiler topic area is a good example of this. You should switch on the new CDS parser, which has actually been avlable since February this year. Also in the Node.js area, there have been plenty of things that you can and should be enabling now. All these aspects have been released over the course of the current major release that's v8 in the java topic area there are changes and new features to the outbox service there's now support for consumption of a remote odata singleton instances the value of what's specified in the common.text annotation is now searched automatically there's an enhancement relating to the expansion of too many associations from subqueries and there are new arithmetic and string functions supported by CDSQL. Last but not least, in the plugins topic area, the two plugins, Attachment and Change Tracking, now support multi-tenancy. That just about wraps it up for this April 2025 release of CAP, but the key message is, make sure you're ready for V9 that's coming soon.
[Sheena M K] Hello, developers. The SAP Community Escape House for May is already live, and this month's edition is a very interesting topic about extensibility. So this is how it works. You're trapped inside a mystery house, and your task is to solve clues using your ABAP knowledge. Each puzzle that you solve will bring you closer to the escape, and on the way, you'll be learning a lot of interesting concepts on extensibility in the ABAP cloud world. It's a very creative and fun-filled way to learn new concepts, no slice, just code, logic, and a bit of detective work. Want to give it a try? Head over to the description box for the blog post link and get started today. If you're still stuck or you'd like to share your experience, jump onto the comment box of the community blog post and we are right there to help you out. Happy escaping and good luck.
[Thomas] well i'm here in my backyard and it is a clear sign of spring because we've got a little burrow of baby rabbits in our backyard you know another thing that happens every spring and that is Sapphire so Sapphire 2025 is happening next week be on the lookout for the live stream content that you'll be able to join such as the keynotes but if you aren't able to catch the live event, we'll also have an update on the SAP developer news right here in this channel of all the best announcements and news to come out of Sapphire for developers. Now, it's no spoiler that AI is going to be a big topic at Sapphire this year. I think you'd probably have to be living under a rock not to know that AI is a really hot topic right now. And if you feel as a developer, maybe you've been missing out and need to update your AI skills a little bit, we're also going to help you out there. We have a little mini AI roadshow coming to the U.S. later in June. We're going to take the Generative AI Code Jam on the road, offering it in Newark, in the San Francisco Bay Area, in the Palo Alto offices, and in Houston, Texas. This is all thanks to our friends at Mark9 who are going to be sponsoring these events. So if you are near any of those cities and looking for a little introduction to generative AI that's accessible, regardless of which programming language or environment you're used to working in, check out the schedule in the links below to see if you can join one of those events. so we look forward to sharing more sapphire news with you and bringing more AI related content to you in the form of code jams thanks
[DJ] it's such a lovely day up here on the macclesfield canal that I’ve opened one of the duck hatches anyway just got time to remind you all about our current series exploring functional programming it's on the hands-on sap dev show there are five episodes in fact if you're watching this you're most likely to be watching it at about the same time as the fifth and final episode is airing live but don't worry all the replays are available in this little mini-series. It's just a gentle introduction to functional programming, including covering concepts by hands-on learning by doing, concepts such as functions as values, higher order functions, closures, immutability, currying, point-free coding or tacit coding as it's also known, composition and more. Lots to learn, lots to discover as always, so check out the playlist. The link is in the description. Bye for now. I'll see you next time.
