[Kevin] Hey, CAP enthusiasts. Well, it's here. A new CAP major release, CAP Node.js version 8 and CAP Java version 3 are out now. Congratulations to the entire CAP team. There's a ton of features and fixes across pretty much all of CAP's surface area, including the CAP tools and CLI, the CDS language and compiler, both the Node.js and Java runtimes, multi-tenancy, CAP plugins, and running CAP on Kyma/Kubernetes. There's far too much to detail in this news item, so here are just a handful of highlights.
There are no breaking changes to public APIs, and that is amazing. Of course, if you're using undocumented features, there is no guarantee that they will break. There's a new plugin API available to extend the "cds add" family. The new database service architecture for the Node.js runtime runtime is now generally available. Then the protocol adapters for Odata and REST have been completely re-implemented, and those are now generally available, too. There is now support for the consumption of SAP Cloud Identity Services in the Java runtime. And there are new plugins and updates to existing plugins, too. For all details, check out the CAP release notes today.
[Michelle] For all you front-end folks out there, there's an event coming up for you. SAP Fiori Innovation Day is happening in Chicago on August 13th. You should attend this event if you want to learn more about SAP Fiori and SAP UX strategy and innovation. This is a great event for anyone in a technical role or a role that touches app development. You can learn more and register for this all day event by clicking the link in the description below. Happy coding.
[Witalij] This week SAP DataSphere product management team hosted a session where at in this could receive the latest updates on features and functionalities delivered in Q2 2024. The session covered updates on data integration, modeling, and various other topics. If you missed it, the recording is available, please find the link in the description. There are two specific topics worth exploring in details. The SAP Datasphere BW for HANA model transfer series, which provides guidance on how to utilize this feature to import existing analytics queries from your SAP BW for HANA system into SAP Datasphere, and a blog post on how SAP Datasphere and BTP Cloud Transport Management Service collaborate to streamline content transport between dev, test, production, and tenant.
Looking ahead, the SAP Analytics Cloud product team offers a sneak peek into the Q3 release. Among the top five features discussed there are Report-to-Report Interface for Live SAP BW, Just Ask Enhancements, and Standard Unit Conversions explored in-depth in a separate What's New in Modeling extensions and Integration QRC 3 release. Please remember that the roadmap explorer provides a complete and comprehensive list of all features coming in 2024, so both SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud.
[Rich] Hey folks, hope everyone out there is doing well. I have a blog post here to share with you about how to integrate S/4 HANA BOR framework with SAP Integration Suite Advanced Event Mesh or AEM using SAP Application Interface Framework or AIF. So in this blog post, the author mentions how events are becoming increasingly popular for integration scenarios, and I couldn't agree more. They take you step-by-step through the process of wiring up an SAP S/4 HANA system together with an older SAP ERP system, leveraging the capabilities of the event mesh and AIF. I would imagine this type of thing is going to be quite common over the next few years as we move custom roof to us from on a cloud. So take a few minutes and check out this blog post today.
