SAP FC: time dipendent master data

Hi All,

I'm implementing the new SAP RDS for Solvency II on SAP FC.

I have a important question: Is it possible to have time dipendent master data?

For example

  1. The period of the reporting ID is 06.2014
  2. I upload a record with a fund with rating AAA (and period 06.2014)
  3. I create another reporting ID with period 09.2014
  4. I update the master data for the same fund that now have a new rating (BBB)
  5. I upload a record for the period 07.2014 with the same fund

When I execute the report for the period 06.2014 I can't see the old rating (AAA) but only the last.

Is it possible to have the history of master data's changes?

Thank you in advance,

Matteo

I noticed another fact.

  • I insert for example a record with a value equal to "ZZ" for the dimension ID (Identification code).

I can see the row above into my report where "Type of structured product", "Capital protection" etc are derived from the master data of ID.

  • If I delete now "ZZ" from the master data of ID, the row showed by the report disappear

In order to guarantee the data quality I expected the system not to allow me to delete the master data for "ZZ". This behaviour generate an inconsistency.

How can I avoid this?

Is it possible to lock from deletion the master data used into packages?

Thanks

Matteo

Matteo,

Only Scopes and the Category are time dependent in FC. Can you organise your scope to include the Rating?

In v10 I have previously used the Secondary Hierarchy (MRU) dimension to maintain historic structures.

Alternatively, you can look to record the rating against an "account" (or similar) in the category.

Ping me on Linked in if you need more help.

Hi James,

my problem isn't only for the Rating. It is an example but I'd like to know if it was possible to have time dipendent master data in general.

What do you mean with "to record the rating against an "account" (or similar) in the category"?

Thanks,

Matteo

Time dependent master data in general is not possible in FC. There is only one version on the Dimension builder.

Scopes are time dependent, as is the Category scenario and these can be utilized to creatively work around the issue to some extent. However, it is difficult to advise on this without fully understanding the specific requirement and data model.

Hi,

I've already seen this function but it isn't what I need.

The trace report doesn't show what has been changed in case of changing.

Moreover what I want is a time dependant master data that allows the users to see the values (e.g rating of a fund) valid in the period of the query.

In the example above I want to see the rating AAA when I execute the report for the period 06.2014 and BBB when the period is 07.2014.

Thanks,

Matteo

Hello,

Trace Reports track and log changes on the following objects:

ModuleDomain

Analysis : Report Navigator (Reports) /Viewpoints

Operation: Reporting Organizer /RU Organizer /Package
Manager/Manual Journal Entries/Scope Builder/Rates/Consolidation

Administration:Task List /Task Scheduler /Log /Address
Book /Site Profiles /Security /Audit /Package Amount Trace

Setup: Dimension Builder /Report Designer/Category
Builder/Rules/Data Entry Restrictions/Ledgers/Data Link Definitions

The reports are available via the File menu and the right-click contextual menu.

You can export Trace reports in TXT or CSV format, the content of which is filtered by user access rights. You can also configure manual and automatic archival methods.

Hi Matteo,

As response to your question about having the history of master data's changes, you can enable the

trace reports which help the user to track any object modifications that have occurred.

Trace reports list any time a tracked object is created, modified, or deleted, and mention who performed the action.

This option can be enabled in the Desktop General Options as follwo:

  1. Select Tools > General Options.
  2. Select the Trace Reports tab.
  3. Activate Enable the trace report function.
  4. Click Select views to select the views whose operations you want to log.
  5. Deactivate the views whose operations you do not want to log.
  6. Click OK.

Once this function is activated, all operations for the module objects you selected are logged in reports.

Hope thiw would be helpful.

Kindest regards,

Siwar
