Hi Adam,

I have had some problems in the past with some versions of EvComment;

the issue was that some versions needed full access to some directories on the client (c:\program files\outlooksoft cpm). Can be that you encounter the same problem.

Solution might be to downgrade on your development server to the same version as your test server.

I always used the following combination of evcomment because I found them the most stable ones:

clientversion: 1.19

server version: 1.11

CPA is my app. The table tblcommentCPA is there in the database.

Ecomments is working in our Test enviroment but not our DEV and the only thing I noticed different on the Webservers was the verision

TEST

EVComSev is 1.20.0002 and there is no EVclient installed.

DEV

EV ComServer is 1.21.003 and I have installed EVCom Client just today.

Adam,

Does the appset contain a table called tblcomment<app>?

if not, you can add it as follow:

2.	In IE, navigate to the correct appset/app for which you want to create a comment table using
http://{SERVER}/Osoft/
3.	Run this once from Internet Explorer:
http://{SERVER}/Osoft/ CustomEvComment.asp
note: replace text within braces with your server and app name
e.g.
http://localhost/Osoft/ CustomEvComment.asp

4.	Make sure the proper appset/app is selected. Click the link to initialize the comment table.
It will create the table tblComment{App} in the appropriate appset.
5.	Make sure the page says "Init=OK" when complete.

I have installed both Server and Client and we are still getting the error message. Its not only happening when remoting but it is also happening when we connect through process selector or webexcel.

Is there anything else I can check?

Evcomment has two installation files: Client and Server.

The Server installation file must be installed on the webserver only (which is already done when direct clients can use evcomment)

The Client installation file must be installed on the terminal services client with administrator rights.

We are in a 3 server enviroment, should it only be installed on the Web Server?

Hi Adam,

Have you first installed the evcom client as an administrator before you are using it?

Find below the installation instructions from evcom 4.2 on a citric/terminal services environement:

1.	Run EVComClientSetup.exe

Note: If you are installing on a CITRIX or Temrinal Services client, then you should first run
change user /install
before setup, then
change user /execute
after

2.	Install EVComment.xla as an Addin

u2022	In Excel, use Tools \ Addins \
browse to find EVComment.xla (it will be installed to the same folder which contains your Outlooksoft WebExcel addin),
and check EVComment on.
A new menu, EVComment should appear on the menu bar
