Migration HR/HCM personal master data to infotypes

Hello together,

it's the first time I have to migrate HR personal master data and salary types.

For old salary types I will code an report which updates the data base table.

But which is the right one? I have checked a few T55xx tables, but I guess I did not find the right one until now.

(I compared the number of entries with a few customer productiv systems and they were everywhere the same.....)

The main question ist how to migration all the infotypes?

It seems that there is no LSMW object to migrate the ones I have to.

I found reports - based on records - in different systems, another HR consultant seems to use for migration.

But for me it seems a little bit strange that I have to code a lot of different reports for all kind of infotypes.

Experience? Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

There are separate HR IDOCS you use for OM and PA infotypes. We use SAP Data Services that has pre built HCM load jobs that use these IDOCS. If you do not use Data Services, you can always use the IDOC method in LSMW to load your HR PA data. For PA data, i believe the IDOC type is HRMD_A.

Hello Chaitanya,

this was a good tip. Data Services are not an option, but LSMW via IDoc will probably work.

Now I have the next question. I have set message type HRMD_A and basic type HRMD_A08.

I had the choice between A08 and A07.

What is the difference?

Heiko,

Am more of a Data Services person and the template jobs in DS use HRMD_A07. I think that HRMD_A08 is the latest release of the PA IDOC but I am not sure. In any case, if the HRMD_A08 structure works for your requirement, you should be able to load your data without any issues. An advantage of using PA IDOC is that you can load multiple 'independent' infotypes at one go.

Hello Chaitanya,

thanks for your help.

Yesterday I finally created and posted an IDoc "successfully".

Successfully in quotation mark because the SAP traffic light tells me green, but if I check it on data base level (PA0000) no new entry was created.

So is there a way to check why SAP tells me everything is fine but nothing happens?

Thanks

Heiko,

You might want to post this issue in a ABAP forum. Status 53 represents that "Application document posted" and does not mean that it has successfully updated the database.

Check the process code entry in the partner profile setup. You may have to debug. Sorry, but I am not able to help too much on this.

Hi Chaitanya! I think you will be the best person to help me as I will be using Data Services to load OM and PA. I have just started loading organizations using DS. I am just using segments E1PLOGI, E1P1000 and E1P1002. I have successfully loaded but not the description and short text. Questions will be, am I missing a segment? Am I missing mappings? Appreciate your help! Screenshots will be very appreciated. Thanks!

Pon Yong,

Are you using the existing content from below link (that includes HCM with the HRMD_A IDoc) or did you build everything from scratch in Data Services?

SAP Service Marketplace - Rapid data migration to SAP ERP / CRM HANA

Thanks,

FRANK.

Hi Frank! I'm starting from scratch. I tried changing my job and only used segments E1PLOGI, E1P1000, and E1P1TYP. Everytime I load one record, it works fine and I can see that the description and short text are populated, although infotypes 1001, 1008, and 1028 are automatically created as well, but If load two or more, duplicate records are created for each. The object id that I pass is the legacy id.

Hello Chaitanya,

at the end I solved it with classical recording.

Instead of ideally having only 2 or 3 migration objects (with Idocs) now I have to do 17 migration runs until complete personal has migrated.

Pon Yong,

As Frank mentioned, use the standard BPDM jobs for loading HR OM/PA data. You are wasting a lot of time and effort on building something that SAP already provides.

But to come to your existing problem, based on the fact that you are getting duplicate records, I am pretty sure that you have not nested your query correctly. Make sure you have provided the appropriate joins and nested correctly.

Hi Pon Yong,

As Chaitanya said, probably you can save a lot of time using the existing content which actually has all the nesting being built already.

Plus, the BPDM content now known as Rapid Data Migration is free of charge - there is no cost!

Please go to this page and download the ERP package here:

http://service.sap.com/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001943&_EVENT=DISPHIER&HEADER=Y&FUNCTIONBAR=...

The package comes with the ATL-file for Data Services and also documentation on how to use it. I know, it has far too many objects than you need right now, but the HRMD_A is one of that!

To get the ATL-file, please check out the note (also for the configuration):

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1791183

Then you should be fine. Also, you don't need to use the pre-defined jobs and data flows but it gives you valuable input on what to change on your side. Also, the content is easily extendable by replicating jobs and data flows.

Best regards,

FRANK.

Thanks Frank. Unfortunately, I do not have a marketplace user and it will be close to imposisble to get one with my current situation. I wanted to understand how the loading works and for sure it will be there in the atl. Would you mind sending it to me or it's too much?

I was able to load organizations and objects now. I also was able to load infotype 0000. It is hard work.

Hi Pon Yong,

I'm with SAP so cannot provide you this via SCN. But probably you can find someone who downloads this content for you (again, absolutely at no cost). Do you know the administrator at the company you are working for? It shouldn't be a big deal to get hold of an S-user. Did you ever attended an SAP Education classroom training? If so, your confirmation number can be used as an S-user with the S as a prefix.

This is what you can get access to in the Service marketplace without an S-user:

SAP Service Marketplace - Home

Everything is there including the mapping templates...

This is the SAP note with the configuration documentation attached to it:

Best regards,

FRANK.

Hi Frank. Thanks. We tried but we do not have access to download the ATL and it will take ages to get any approval with our company. I will proceed with doing this from scratch.

A screenshot of a datflow that calls the idoc will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.
