The OASIS Adoption Forum 2005, which takes place 17th October 2005, provides an interesting agenda for those whoe are interested in industry standards in the e-government, e-health, and e-commerce communities. There will be a keynote address from Ovum analyst David Mitchell on the relationship between Open Standards and Open Source. A panel addressing how standards organisations can coordinate efforts to promote real interoperability will also be featured. Leaders from various standards bodies including CEN/ISSS, GS1, ICTSB, and ITU will join OASIS to discuss how their groups are prepared for more cooperation in the standards development arena. SAP is sponsoring this event and in my role as a member of the OASIS Board of Directors, I will attend it. Just in case you happen to attend this event as well, I'd be happy to chat with you about SAP's and OASIS' approach to industry standards.
