Hi All,

Here is a quick blog posting on upgrading SUM for SAP HANA to HANA Lifecycle Manager (HLM).

What is HLM?

Starting with SP6 (rev 60) SAP HANA, SUM for SAP HANA has been replaced with HLM (this is described more in depth in SAP Note 1836498)

How to install?

(Prerequisite: In order to install HLM, users will need to have SAP Host Agent 7.20.150.150 or greater installed)

Login into your SAP HANA studio

Right click on your HANA system you would like to upgrade and select “Lifecycle Management”

Upon loading the Lifecycle Management page SUM for SAP HANA will see if a new version of SUM is available, in my case there was

After this is downloaded and installed the SAP HANA Studio will restart. Once SAP HANA Studio is back up right click on the same system and select “Lifecycle Management”, the page will now look like this

As you can see the top radio button gives you the option to “Install SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager”. Click “Next”

Once the upgrade is completed SAP HANA Studio will restart.

To validate if the install is successful please go to your SAP HANA server and see if the following directory exists, /usr/sap/<SID>/HLM

If you are using SAP HANA Studio that is below SP5 the Lifecycle Management page will like the same as before

If you are on SP6 the Lifecycle Management page will look like this
