Introduction
This BLOG covers the BIM253 session at Teched. To get an overview of the Business Information Management blogs, check out Business Information Management Track at SAP TechEd '06 We'll cover the Query Designer, Report Designer, and Web Application Designer within the SAP Business Explorer Suite!

What is covered?
Here are some examples of the types of things you'll see in our sessions. We're not going to cover these exact scenarios as we're aiming to cover lots of different scenarios which haven't been finalized. These examples will give you an idea of the types of things you'll see.

Why come to our session?
Marc Bernard, Katie Beavers, and Prakash Darji! We're all fun people so come and meet us. Katie is an SAP Product Manager for NetWeaver, and Marc Bernard and I are in the NetWeaver RIG. We're going to cover lots of interesting things you can do with the BEx Tools. It's a 4 hour hands on session so we'll spend a lot of this class going through exercises and giving you hands on experience.

Query Designer - What we'll cover?
The BEx Query Designer within SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI has a new and improved User Interface. Some of the cool new functionality includes:

  • Properties Pane
  • Drag and Drop Visualization
  • Tabs to segment sections
  • Windows Context Menu
  • Message Pane
  • Enhanced Filter Options
  • Nesting of Exception Aggregation


  • We'll cover some of this functionality. Here is an example of what the query designer looks like:

Report Designer - What we'll cover?
The BEx Report Designer is a new tool that allows you to create formatted reports as web applications. Some of groovy new functionality includes:

  • Format Fonts and Styles for a report
  • Using of rules
  • Ability to design the report layout
  • Integration with PDF Printing
  • Use of Hierarchies in formatted reporting


  • We'll cover some of this functionality. Here's an example of what the designtime of the Report Designer looks like:



Web Application Designer - What we'll cover?
The BEx Web Application Designer now allows you to build tabs and call buttons with no coding! Also, there are a ton of new web items. Some of the new functionality includes:

  • Command Wizard
  • Conditions and Exceptions Dialogs
  • Filter Dialogs
  • Print Dialogs
  • Button Web Item
  • Tab Page Web Item
  • New Chart Types


  • We'll cover some of this functionality. Here's an example of what the new designtime looks like with the BEx Web Application Designer:



Summary
These screenshots just show the desigtime. With these tools we'll have lots of exercises that will show you how to build lots of neat applications with these tools. We'll cover a lot of the new items, features, and functionalities, so be sure to come to our session.
