With so much going on about Analytics at SAPPHIRE NOW, it’s hard to give more than a flavor of what’s going on, but here’s a selection.

The day one keynote presentations by co-CEOs Bill McDermott and Jim Snabe featured analytics and big data extensively, as one of the “Nexus of Forces” that are changing the way organizations work (the others are mobile, social, and cloud). The recording is already available on the SAP Virtual Event website (here’s my overview of Bill’s presentation).

Avery Horzewski of the SAP Analytics Blog wrote a nice review of some of the “muy buena” analytics activities so far, including these videos giving previews of the different parts of the analytics campus:

Nic Smith wrote a post about the one of the highlights of the show, the McLaren showcase, showing examples of analyzing formula one telemetry data, and Tim Clark did a video.

Anita Gibbings wrote about the general availability of SAP Business Objects Design Studio (aka Project Zen), the brand new, long-awaited successor to BEx Web & BEx Web Application Designer. It includes out-of-the box support for mobile iPad dashboard applications using a WYSIWYG eclipse-based designer and full, native support for BW BEx queries and HANA. Since there has been some perceived overlap between Design Studio and SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards, I took the opportunity to quiz Ian Mayor, the solution manager for both products, about the differences.

Students are gearing up for tomorrow’s EMEA dashboard competition, organized by Analytics Services and SAP University Alliances in cooperation with Unicef (France), the well-known non-profit organization that provides long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries. The students will using SAP Visual Intelligence to identify profiles of distinctive donor groups that show a specific donating behavior (like early leavers, high propensity to donate, low propensity to donate…) and SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards to show the results in an accessible way.

The brand new SAP 360 Customer solution was launched at the conference. It consists of SAP CRM Powered by SAP HANA + SAP Sales OnDemand + SAP Social OnDemand + SAP Jam, and more. margot.heiligman explained the details in this post.

Lots of other Analytics news to come!
