Two Months ago, I was invited by Symbiosis University to take sessions on ERP focused on SAP at their Symbiosis Institute of Business Management - SIBM for the Students of MBA and Executive MBA. The purpose of the sessions was to talk on ERP as a subject, discuss strengths/ weaknesses of different ERP’s and then give an overview on different industry business scenarios and SAP Solutions for the same.
I discussed the different SAP skill sets that university students can acquire within the duration of MBA and Executive MBA.
I put forward the idea that SAP Business Processes Overview across the Enterprise Application including the area of Supply Chain Management, Operations, Financial Management and Human Resources could be used as a starting point for these students seeking employment in the field of SAP Consulting or seeking employment as Management Trainee where SAP is used as an ERP.
I took the students through the Industry Business Scenarios like “Order to Cash- OTC”, “Request to Pay – RTP”, “Invest to Divest- ITD”, “Record to Report – RTR” within SAP.
Like in most of the Indian Universities, there are few common subjects for the first year of management or graduation, I feel like for ERP or SAP Entrants above Industry Business Scenarios should made compulsory in University Alliance program. This is going to help building real skilled resources for the ERP Consulting companies.
Furthermore we need more universities to understand about the importance of these sessions at University Level to develop the next generation ERP Consultants and Business Experts/Managers.
Now challenge and a Question is what should be the University Offerings by SAP University Alliance in India?
