Last Saturday it was time again for SAP Inside Track in Belgium. It was the 5
th SIT in Belgium but the first time hosted by an SAP Partner, Emeritis. Previous years, the event was always located at the office of SAP Belgium, which is in Brussels. By moving the event to a partner, it also moved to another city, first time SIT Belgium in Antwerp!
We had around 30 attendees from different countries:
- Belgium (off course)
- Netherlands
- Germany
- France
- Luxemburg
In Belgium, there are a few high schools that teach SAP. We try to take the exam period into account for the date of the SIT and ask the teacher to promote the event. Just like last year, we had a few students.
Besides students, we also had two women (One had to cancel)! I think this was the first time at SIT Belgium that we had a woman that participated.
We had 12 sessions and even had to split up in two tracks in the afternoon!
For kicking off the event, we had a special guest. Jo Vercammen presented a non-SAP session about Digital Identity on the Blockchain. It was very interesting for all of us and showed us that there is more than SAP in IT ?
After Jo, it was up to our next special guest from SAP, Abdel Dadouche. Abdel left his baby of only 21 days old to tell us everything about Machine Learning. He showed us some cool demo’s which we can even try for free!
Next was Jérémy Coppey, who told everything about Mobile and how to make a mobile app from your Fiori app in only 5 minutes!
Pieter-Jan showed us how to use and configure Continuous Integration for Java application and run automated unit test before the deployment.
From all that knowledge sharing you get hungry so it was time for lunch.
After lunch we had to split up into two tracks.
First track started with Frederik and Lawrence, they explained how you can create your own Launchpad.
At the same time Laurence van Rijn shared his experience on Code Quality and gave us very useful tips and tricks!
Next on the agenda, in track one Dries and I gave session about Internet of Things Application Enablement. Dries showed what he did during his internship and I showed how we integrated it with SAP.
During our session, the first remote session started with Steve Guo. Steve shared all his knowledge about OData and annotations. (Lessons learned, use a good internet connection. Connection was not that great and was not always easy to follow the session)
We had to cancel the next remote session because the network connection to India was even worse than China. Ashok was not able to join the skype call. Instead of the remote sessions, everyone joined the session of Volker about SAP IQ.
Last but not least, one session about Adobe forms in the SAP Cloud Platform by Fouad and at the same time my session on how you can create a UI5 Library and consume it (in less than 30 minutes )
Thank you to Emeritis for hosting the event!
Thank you to all the speakers for sharing your knowledge and experience!
Thank you to all attendees for attending the event!
