This week, SAP has arranged the annual CVLBA (Center for Very Large Business Applications) meeting at its headquarters in Walldorf (see also Suparna's blog for more information around this event). As a member of the CVLBA research group in Munich, I was inveted to talk about my research on IT carve-outs.
The talk focused on my findings on IT-related challenges in Carve-Out projects and the ideal world model. It discussed the origins and implications of critical IT-related cahllenges, such as interdependencies between information systems (i.e. ERP systems) or the lack of IT-documentation. Subsequently we discussed the implications for organizations and potentials for ERP-System development. The discussion cumulated on research ideas around IT carve-out readiness.
The CVLBA meeting has been a great opportunity for bridging the gap between research and practice by providing a plattform for discussing industry relevant research. My special thank goes to SAP and the Team around Heino Schrader for organizing this event.
