Greetings All,
I must admit it is nice once in awhile to get to witness a victory lap for your peers, your office, and your company. For us this event happened on Friday, August 3, 2012 as our SAP Lake Mary Leadership Team was invited to attend the Orlando Sentinel's Top 100 Companies For Working Families Luncheon. Turned out to be an incredible event and my only wish is that we could have had every member of our team at the Luncheon.
As part of Support we deal with our fair share of problems - it is our job in life to make our customers happy and just fix it. But for this past Friday it was about our team and what SAP does as an organization for its employee's globally and here in City Beautiful - Orlando Florida.
The event began with Dr. Rick Bommelje from nearby Rollins College who when he takes off his teaching cape is an international expert in Listening and Leadership! I must give Dr. Bommelje his props as he kicked off his speech by standing silent for 2 minutes in front of the nearly 1,000 attendees. It took less than one minute for all of the crowd to stop talking and begin listening. Pretty impactful when silence is the best tool to teach listening that there is - note to self I must remember that lesson!!!
Once Dr. Bommelje and our lunch concluded the Awards began - this is where the fun started! I expected that we would be well represented given the fact that the Orlando Sentinel had come to visit the office, take some pictures, and do some video. Steven Roberts ( SAP Quality Manager ) and Jamie Bridwell ( Vice President, Primary Support ) led our quest for recognition this year and given their passion for our people and SAP I was confident we would be recognized.
Net result - not only were we #17 in the Top 100 for Companies under 250 employee's we won the Employee Choice Award. I am a bit of a softy so yes I teared - was there any doubt?
Proud to be SAP Lake Mary and happy to experience this victory lap - Now back to work!!
